(3) When posting pictures make sure they do not exceed 700 pixels total width...

Well, I thought it might be useful to start a flag thread for the moment, as we have the resources to start making them.... and together as a community we might be able to get a good pool of new flags together...

So far I have made HoI flags for:

Jamaica(not the best quality, so I am not showing it....)
Congo(a composite of the 1960 and 1971 flags)

Cyprus

and a facsimile of the iron cross flag from the old screenshots

More to come....

Looking good so far dude. I look forward to the day where I can play HOI with every single country's flag accurately represented. Too bad there are only a couple of fan sites so far. What is probably needed is an independant distributor of mods. For instance CMBB has no shortage of these sites. Ah well, I suppose a couple of weeks after the game comes out we'll be flooded with them.

Well, I think that we as a community should keep a running list of where you can get flags for some countries...

I have the above flags in the .bmp format for the game if anyone wants them...

Ok, in addition to the flags above, I now also have:

Kenya(from their current flag, sorry)
Vietnam(though I have to see Indochina IDC before anything goes forward)
Scotland
Reversed American Flag(for those people who said it was the wrong way)
Sudan(based on the 1956-70 flag)

you put the flags, but where's the link to download them?

There is a flag issue to remember. Patric said that the unit flags will NOT be replaced by using the template that they gave us. He also said that he's not sure of a way to let us do that. Kind of disappointing, but I'm sure it will be worked out. We should all just be aware of that though.

I don't how to post links, but search for 'flags template units'. There's only one thread that should come up.

I think that thread explains what I meant by units flags. Basically, the flags that are.. well, on the units as opposed to the ones that show up in the upper right corner of the screen or in the pop-up boxes.

you are talking about the flags "over the units"?
the template that patric gave us is not useful for that.
but if you got the right dimensions you can make them.

in my site, i put the flags for the units and the "shields" (the flags that appear in the upper right). That's why it is a .rar archive, because every .rar has 2 files inside.

Great! Are you sure the unit flags work in-game? And is there a template for those? It looks like they 'flutter' in-game, is that why there are multiple frames? And more importantly, is there any simple way to make the multiple iterations required?

i've already did this for EU, so i think they work.
i could not test them because i don't have the game.
But my template is made based on the Mad King James template for HoI, and i think he is a beta tester (or he has receive the flags/shields from a beta tester, i can't remember exactly ), so the flags/shield will surelly work.

EDIT: if you want to see how the movement is made, download one and open it with "Paint" for example.

The existing templates for the EU2 Unit flags work just fine in HOI. You can simply re-use Mad King James' template for use in HOI (and no, he isn't a beta-tester).

Yes, I've tried it out myself by taking a EU2 modded flag, and it worked just fine in HOI.
