When I run HOI or mods, I have an odd hardware/software conflict which I cannot figure out. First, I get a lot of digital "beeps" from the computer (not through audio speakers) and, second, every few minutes my electrical system drops below the 3.3V threshold (I have a tsr hardware monitor installed). When I close HOI, the beeping stops and there are no voltage issues. I've been playing nothing but HOI for months now, so I decided to fool around with some other games and found that, oddly, I get similar "beeping" with Galactic Civ, another Strategy First game, but no voltage issues. Baldur's Gate - beautiful. Anyway, HOI is definitely the worst for some reason.

I have disabled sound and tried different resolutions for HOI. No use.

I have tried running HOI with all background stuff shutdown - anti virus, firewall and everything else I can find. No use.

I've updated sound/display/Intel chipset drivers and Award Bios to latest versions. No use.

Basic system info:

P4 2.4Mhz
Asus P4B533 motherboard, Award Bios revision 1015
512 MB Ram
Asus GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8x (128 MB)
Asus V9280 v56.55 display driver
DirectX 9.0 (full retail version downloaded from MS, no debug files)
dxdiag - all tests okay
CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio (on the motherboard)
XP Pro 5.1.2600 SP1 Build 2600
resolution 1024x768, 16 bit color

This is now the third computer I have put together with the Asus motherboard / display card combo. They have all been great machines, including this one, which I have been using for about a year now. Given the 3.3V issue, this is probably something to do with HOI and the display card not liking each other. Or maybe the card is getting ready to crap out. Whatever...help...!

Sounds like a power supply problem, when the Video card is getting stressed it drains power and drops the voltage below the threshold.

Great, glad I could help.
