I have problems with the program for changing the HoI Settings. It does not start, at least not displayd. I have checked the Task Manager and the program shows up in the Program list. I have searched the forum but have not found any answers for this problem.

I have installed HoI fresh from the begining and applying the 1.06c patch but still have this problem.

It is not a serious problem, I just want to change the resolution a bit and check to see if I can change something else. I can play the game, it is great!

Idéas? :confused:
 
This pops up every so often, no wories.
 
Changing Settings on COTN?

Does anyone know how to increase the resolution for Crown of the North? There is no settings.exe file, and I was wondering if anyone had a similar fix to that in the thread link above. I'll post this on the COTN board, as well. Thanks!
 
I cannot recall, but isn't there a settings.cfg file?
If so just edit it with word pad.
 
This is the response I received in an e-mail from Paradox Support:

"I am sorry, but it is not possible to change resolution in CotN. That is why there is no little program whcih does that for you like it was in EU2."

Does anyone know of any utility which can improve the resolution of programs when displayed on LCD screens? The text of CotN (and HoI and EUII) on my screen at 800x600 is very blurry.

Well the other two you can up the res, for COTN try adjusting the res of the desktop to match the game. I don't think there is a window hack for COTN either like there is for the other two.
Sorry but I don't even have it installed, just have an old beta copy around somewhere.

But the solution is the same; change laptop display to window mode instead of stretched. Not a great solution if you have a 1400x1050 LCD with a game running at 800x600 but the only one available besides using an external CRT.
 
But isn't that what I told him to do?
 
Changing desktop res is not the same thing as changing the behaviour of the LCD when viewing resolutions lower than native. Desktop res is a Windows setting while LCD setting is purely hardware; Windows doesn't know or care that it's running in an 800x600 portion of the full screen rather than being expanded in hardware to fill the full screen.

Hello, i am just RE-INSTALLING HOI, and the program goes unresponcive when i click the install on the autorun window. is the original disk..(OLD) when game first came out.

have tried verious way to get around it, but i think the disk is bad or the setup file is corrupt. anyways. was reading about the platnum edition and then i saw that HOI 2 is about out. but i wanted to play now!!! *stomps foot*

oh well. anyone have the setup file to start the install availe so i can get a diff setup.exe program?
 
Hmm I don't see what this has to do with the HOI settings program which is the thread you posted in.
However since this is your first post, welcome to the forums :) , I will let it pass, in the future please keep your posts on topic within the thread, and for support issues it is best to start your own thread.

Copy the CD to the Harddrive and install from there.
