Heh, I'm supposed to be in the team and I haven't seen the bloody thing. :)

Meanwhile, this is what happens when you're a lazy bum and leave work to the very last. I forgot to resize the bmp before trying it in the game. (this is fixed in the files I sent in, but it cracked me up)

LOL

My Gwalcmai, what a big plane you have. Is that Super Star Destroyer class?
And I certaintly wouldn't want to meet the pilot of that...must be Paul Bunyon.

INSTALLATION READ-ME FILE

You should install the mod over a clean installation of HoI 1.05c.

WARNING: If you still want to play the standard HoI scenarios (1936, 1939, 1941) you should create a separate installation, as the patch applied to the HoI.exe file during installation of the mod prevents a scenario lasting past 1924.

1. Create a new directory within your Hearts of Iron folder called TGW. Unzip the file TGW100b.zip into it.

2. Locate the program file no_time_limit_12_special.exe in the new TGW directory. Run it.
It will ask for the location of the file you wish to patch. Browse to HoI.exe in your Hearts of Iron directory and select it.
This creates a back-up of the file (called HoI.exe.bak) and then patches the HoI.exe file.

3. Go to your HoI.exe executable inside your Hearts of Iron folder.

4. Right click on that and choose Create Shortcut.

5. Rename the shortcut to whatever you want, such as "The Great War"

6. Drag shortcut to desktop.

7. Rightclick on this shortcut. Click properties.

8. In the Target: line, you will see this.
"...\Hearts of Iron\HoI.exe"
Add a space then TGW at the end of this line, so it now reads:
"...\Hearts of Iron\HoI.exe" TGW

9. Click on the Change Icon button. Click on Browse and locate the file
...\Hearts of Iron\TGW\hoi-tgw.ico
Select this as the icon for the shortcut.

To run the program, simply click on the shortcut.

- suggestions welcome on changes to this -

Hate to sound stupid, but how would one go about creating a seperate installation?

The easiest way would be to open Explorer, and copy and paste the entire "Hearts of Iron" directory tree. Rename it "The Great War" or similar. Of course, since it's several hundred MB, you'll need plenty of memory to do this. :) Or just re-install from the original disk, choosing a different location from the default.

So...

Anybody want to take this 11 MB zip file off my hands?
TGW 1.00b

I'm still getting those error messages, although the program does carry on loading if you tell it to ignore them. Perhaps someone with more time (I have to go to work tomorrow :D ) can do the "going through every event file to find a duplicate ID" thing?

Once the mod is properly hosted on the official website I'll take down this link, since it's using up just about all my available webspace...

wooo hooo!1

Great job Steve T

I'll put it on my server, with the TGW page. It should be there in less then 5 minutes...

Wait I thought this was going to be moddir. Is that being delayed for the next version? Or am I just missing something?

Also does this require the latest pic pack?
