HOI won't load saved games

Has anyone had trouble trying to load saved games? The game play fine...until I want to try and load a game and then it crashes to the desktop. When I restart the game it still won't load any saved games, but will allow me to start new games.

I have tried reinstalling the game with no luck.

Not very much fun if you can't continue games...please help!!

Are these games that were started with 1.01 and then continued with 1.02?
I would suggest a complete uninstall, then reinstall and then apply the 1.02 patch.

Not specifically this, no, usually if your savegames are causing CTDs you get them in the game too... that's why this is a bit strange.

More questions:

-How many games have you tried to resume?
-Do you manually save often, overwriting the same file over and over and over again?
-Have you ever been able to load a savegame or has this always been a problem? Also, if you have the North American version can you load either of the two savegames that come with the game?

I have tried to reload three seperate games that were started.

I have used both manual saving (usually just saving it as the default - date, time, country that is provided - and usually not saved over the existing file), I have also saved the file under its own name and tried saving just to that name, and have also tried autosaving.

Not sure about loading the two saved games that came with the game...I didn't notice them. I am assuming that I have the North American version since I ordered it from amazon.com.

I have only had the game since the weekend, and I haven't been able to load any of the saved games, nor the "autosave" or "oldautosave".

it is quite strange because the tutorial works fine, and so does starting up a new game...the first time I played it did CTD after about an hour, but on Monday I played for four hours with no problem...but when I went to try and load my saved game...boom...CTD.
 
Who is the publisher of your version, The name on the box, Paradox and Who? Strategy First or Pan Vision ...
 
The box has Strategy First on it...and this leads me into why the game won't work. I appears that I have downloaded the PAN 1.02 update and not the North American update...once I downloaded the proper patch the problems disappeared. :) I am nice...just not that smart! :D

Don't worry about it, you're far from the only person to make that mistake! Thanks a lot for letting us know that everything's OK.
 
slightly different problem

i am having the same issues as the previous individual. i have tried everything i know how - repairing the reinstall, uninstalling it and reinstalling the game completely, no weird save name files, i am getting some crashes - and at the most inopportune times i might add. i dont have the box any longer, but i do have the cd case and it has paradox logo and a strategy first logo. i downloaded the 1.2 patch from strategy first - so i dont know why it will not work

Since I've answered you in the first thread you posted in I'll lock this thread so you don't have to search for our responses (and since the original poster already had his problem solved.)
