Hi!

Well, it seems that we are going to start a vanilla game. We can return to KR after this game provided enough people will be willing to carry on playing.

As for the rules, I used some of vonManstein's rules Geofactor directed at. Trading provinces or units is forbidden, even with allies.

So here is the list of rules:

1. We need at least 7 players for the game:

Players will play these countries, divided into 3 fixed factions:

- Axis (GER, JAP, ITA, Nat. China - puppeted as soon as possible by Japan and released immediately as a standard ally)
- Allies (UK, US)
- Comintern (SOV)

The game is going to be quite historical so Axis is going to fight other two alliances.

Other players can take these nations:

- both Spains (Republicans can join the Allies or Comintern and nationalists can join the axis - both after the Vichy France event)

- Canada, Hungary etc.

- no human can play France

- Nationalist China can be played by a human after puppeting from Japan (probably in 38-39)

- so I recommend to player number 7 to play Spain from 36, then play Nat. Spain until China gets defeated from Japan

2. No manual DoWs at all, with exceptions of course:

these manually started wars are:

- German attack on Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg can be commenced any time from the Danzig or war event.

- German attack on Denmark, Norway, Yugoslavia any time after the Vichy France event

- Italian attack on Greece any time after the Vichy France event

- German Barbarossa on the 22nd June of 1941

- Japanese attack on the USA on the 7th December 1941

- Japanese and/or Chinese attack on the SU any time from 22nd June 1941


- important:
Germany and Italy can manually DoW anyone except for the SU from the 1st Jan 1941 (Barbarossa is on historical date 22nd June 41)
Japan and China can manually DoW anyone after they join the Axis (not sooner than the historical Barbarossa)
SU can manually DoW anyone from the start of Barbarossa
the Allies cannot manually DoW at all

3. Italy joining the Axis

- Italy can join the Axis any time after the annexation of Albania

4. Japan and Nat. China joining the Axis

- both can join the Axis any time from 22nd June 1941

5. USA joining the Allies

- USA can join the Allies from the 7th Dec 1941 (when Japan attacks)

6. Nat. Spain, Rep. Spain and others war entry

- Nat. Spain can join the Axis after the Vichy France event
- Rep. Spain can join the Allies fater the Vichy France event OR it can join Comintern after the Winter War
- Romania and Bulgaria can join the Axis after the Danzig or war event

7. Historical events

- choices in some key events must be picked historically (whic are Danzig or war, Marco polo incident, Molotov-Ribbentrop pact) but others can have different outcomes (for example: UK supporting Republic Spain in SCW, SU annexing Finland in the Winter war, Slovakia to Hungary in The end of Czechoslovakia event etc.)

8. Inviting AI and human-playerd minors like Brazil, Argentina etc.

- manual inviting is allowed after the Danzig event

- Hungary can be invited into the Axis via The End of Czechoslovakia event


9. Espionage

- no coups
- noone may influence a human controlled country without their permission
- assasinations and smear campaigns are NOT allowed

10. Once Japan has puppeted China, it must release it ASAP. It can avoid two US gearings for war to fire soon.

11. Military access

- military access is forbidden with the only exception:
- military access between Allies and Comintern is allowed. But it applies only for air and naval units (NOT land units). This means, for example, that American bombers can rebase to Soviet territory.

12. Combat

- surrounded troops cannot be disbanded
- redeployment of units in provinces bordering the enemy is forbidden

13. Resource trade

- Allies and Comintern cannot propose trades to AI to buy any oil or rare materials until the Danzig or war event

- however, they can accept trades involving these resources offered by AI

Guys, please post your preferences for countries to play. Make it like this:

You can play a minor country like Romania, but please include in your list at least 1 major power (UK, US, SU, GER, JAP, ITA, CHI)

Frankly, I would like to have Pepsi playing Germany, Hax playing Italy, Kybernomad playing SU, me playing UK; Geofactor, FancyKiller, CratonBih, isd and other players can play US, Japan, Nationalist China, Canada etc. From what I have seen in the last game, I think this could be a fair setup. But if you want to play something else, no problem, we can solve it.

Also, anyone interested in doing an AAR? Fancy? Is it your hobby? :D

We need players for Germany, US and China. In this priority order.

Germany and US need much micromanagement and activity from the player.

China is easier to play.

Personally, I can play anything apart from Italy and China. So I can switch from UK to GER or US if needed.

What about resource trades? Guys, do you think that we need some rules to help Axis stockpile resources? I don't have experience with many human players in a vanilla MP game.

Yes.

Let's make an approximate estimation of IC and manpower growth of both sides by 1941:

Axis IC - Germany 400, Italy 100, Japan 150, China 150 - that is 800 IC at least
Allies + Comintern IC - UK 200, US 400, SU 350 - that is 950 at least

Axis manpower - Germany 1.5, Italy 0.75, Japan 0.75, China 2.5 - that equals 5.5
Allies + Comintern manpower - UK 0.75, US 1.5, SU 2 - that equals 4.25

Axis is slightly stronger in this setup because SU and Allies are in two different factions and thus cannot help each other effectively - it is obvious that Allies + Comintern are going to have hard times in 1941-42.

i think whoever takes germany should hand pick his allies for best game play. also limiting italy and other countries ability to wage war after danzig is a bit much i think. i propose unrestricted war for anyone after danzig. also a jap russo war by event in may 39 should also be allowed as in reality japan was very close to going to war over the incident at khalkin ghol. i realize that a historical war is favorable to some, but making new history can not be acheived with so many restrictions.

1. The Axis with China on its side is a very strong alliance. Just look at calculations above and remember that UK and US has considerably lower IC until 1940.
2. The 39 war SU vs. JAP+CHI is not deadly for SU but it would make SU to keep vast armies in 39 which would lead to quick SU defeat from the hands of Germany. SU does not need any new threats, I am rather worried that it will fall so fast (facing GER, CHI and JAPAN) that Allies will not be able to help him.
3. If Axis can DoW anybody in any time it is a big advantage for them.

So basically if you want the possibility of 39 Russo-Japanese war and unlimited DoWs then we should remove China from the Axis.


BTW, what would you like to play, Geo? I can take US instead of UK.

Fancy, can you play Spain from 36 to 38? You can choose the side in the Spanish Civil War. When Pepsi finishes China off (which is going to be in 38 I guess) you can switch to it.
 
ABR Anybody But Russia, any nation w a navy is ok for me.....but we really need to even the sides if possible
EDIT: a russo jap war would have more that 2 full years before barbarosa. the jap player would have to carefully consider going to war with russia as they would have 3 full years to build ic and could easily out produce japan! keeping this option open will also deter russia from building a 600 ic nation before barbarosa.

Besides, China will be available pretty late, but I agree that unlimited DoWs for the Axis may be too much.

Thanks for opinion. I think that SU will face a grave threat in 1941. Just consider number of divs China, Germany and Japan combined can produce.

On the other hand, the UK and the US can succesfully threaten Germany and Japan.

Ok. So I guess you can take the US. In that case (if I play the UK and you play the US) we need to discuss strategy properly. Can you send me your MSN, Skype or something?

Don't forget there will be China too! It will probably have more than 100 divs by 38, it will reach at least 200 in 39 and it will upgrade its techs with the help of Japan. These two can easily have 400 divs combined in 39 which would force SU to have at least the same amount in that year. And it means that SU wouldn't be able to afford building much IC, if any.

Does anyone else have something to say about balance?


BTW, I have updated some parts of the rules (Japan and China can manually DoW from June 22nd 41, Nat. Spain can join the Axis after the Vichy France event, resource trade rules!!!) so check it out. There still might be some contradictions or strange DoWing conditions etc.
