I recently built a new PC with Windows Vista Ultimate and installed Doomsday on it. I then transferred my save files from my old computer to my new one.

I noticed the game kept crashing to the desktop everytime I reached the first day of May 1951 and realised it was because something was going wrong with the Autosave. I turned it off and attempted a manual save and the game simply froze.

I have tried running it on compability mode but to no avail.
I recall on my earlier PC I had modified Argentina's (the country I'm playing with) files so that the goverment wouldn't be toppled everytime dissent reached 7%. I don't know if that has anything to do with this.

Also I'm using the 1.3 patch.

When you installed HOI2 on Vista did you install it in the default directory?

If so do you have UAC on?

If the above two are true then try the following

1. Save all your save games in a safe place
2. Uninstall HOI2
3. Turn off UAC (do a google search on that phrase to learn how)
4. Install HOI2 -- but not in the default directory.
5. Put your save games back

Try

And btw -- no need to run HOI2 in compatibility mode -- it runs fine without it (I have it this way on my lappy)

Does this happen with all of your games (you know, when you play with diffrente countries and such) or with this one savegame?

Actually, I tried playing the very same savegame with a diffrent country (Nationalist China) and it saved just fine.

Could it have anything to do with modifying Argentina's events file?

Burning,

Can you please post the event file you modified in a code wrap.

Also do you still have the old event file (that you could temporarily replace, try to go past May 1951 with)

If you dont have any thing to add to this conversation please stay out of it.

Thanks,

Alright, I'm at my old computer and I've found that I've edited the coups_hoi2.txt file.

There's no need to post it in a code wrap because all I really did was delete everything under the word "Argentina" until I reached Austria's entry. :p

I'll try moving the edited file into my new computer and check out. I'll report back in a couple of days.
