Hi All

I have HOI2-DD-Arma, fully patched. I am trying to get it to run under Ubuntu Intrepid. I have tried WINE and running inside a VirtualBox with no success. In WINE the game loads, looks perfect, but kicks back to the desktop after about 2 mins.

In the VirtualBox it loads, but the mouse does not integrate properly. I can get to the scenario screen but then the whole VB window goes gray and freezes.

Help from anyone with better results in Linux would be appreciated.

Have you renamed avi folder?

Try this
Rename music folder to music.old

In settings.cfg set 0 #MUSIC

Open terminal and type regedit.

Go to: HKEY_current_user/ software/wine

Make a new folder called DirectSound. Set MaxShadowSize=0

Make a new folder called Direct3D. set OffscreenRenderingMode=fbo

Good luck

This is how my user.reg look like:

[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] 1231704618
"DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"UseGLSL "="enabled"
"VideoMemorySize"="256"

[Software\\Wine\\DirectSound] 1234562064
"MaxShadowSize"="0"

I have installed directX with winetricks. also all codecs and winxp-

Ill give it a try. For the moment it looks like I will be keeping a dual boot config with Windows and Ubuntu. Can't get World of Warcraft or CIV IV to run reliably under wine either. If iAdobe CS4 and those programs would work in Linux I would be Windows free, lol. Surprisngly the Adobe CS4 suite is working very well in a VirtualBox. A little slow, but certainly usable.

I sprung for a 500gb internal drive and now I have room to have Linux and XP installed on different partitions with a substantial shared partition they can both access.

Thanks for the help and I will stay in touch when I get more gaming time.
