1936 Start date - (1st post May 1940)

My second AAR attempt. Sorry no screen shots as I'm running 64 bit Vista and SS don't work.

This is world conquest game micro managed with annex as war goals. After 8-10 games where I quit before a shot was fired I think I've worked out bugs and am ready to own the world. If you've played USSR you know this is challenge. Not using AI

Intel - Politics - Research

Started out by adding steal tech mission to all spy's. Raising NU to max. Pretty much left cabinet alone with emphisis on spying and counter spying, supplies, and main - decay for capital ships, armor, and fighters. USSR has poor choices. Moved 2.5 Ls for Officers, 3 for Diplomats, 4 for spys, and rest (not alot at all) for tech research. When spys reached 10 I set priority for USA, then when 10 more added UK, Japan, France, and Italy. Did pretty good with this scheme till Jan. 38 when it seems AI stops stealing. Put the 4 Ls into research. Spy's got me 3 bomber techs, 3 air docs, ART tech, 3 ship techs, encription tech, AA tech, Got M/R fighters too, ( a 1st ) a prodution tech ( a 1st for me too) and Radar tech. Radar takes 1 year so i came out good. Industry tech takes 10 months.

Production - Diplomacy

Upgrades kill you as USSR, IC goes for momths to upgrade then you need more for researched techs. Pain stakingly started building 1 factory, upgraded 2-3 INF to MOT. Got lucky in June of 36' and bought enough supply deals to forgo IC need for supply building. Finally in August I pour everything into factory builds as it becomes available, not alot. USSR laws are terrible. After 3 factory runs I see some gains and IC is up to about 200 by Jan 39'. Add 5-6 INF to MOT upgrades, about 12 ART and 6 AT's. Built the odd transport or two. a MAR division, couple of destroyers. 4 INT's in serial, 4 CAG too. a lone TRA aircraft and a STA. Not reserching AIR or Navy techs for most part. Added destroyers in 39'.
Started selling fuel on Jan 1 36'. Sold alot of energy too. If you play it right you can do couple sales of 7 fuels to USA, UK, and GER. France will take 1. 4-5 other countries good for 3. My money was +31 in mid Feb 36 so I transfered leadership from diplomates to research. Keep reserve of 15 LS. Sold Energy in 10, 15, and 20 blocks till I was at +25. Not many deals came in till 37 then I widdled metal, rares and oil to + 10 , 20 a month. Worked real good as supplies were bought with 30 plus monies per day.
 
Aug 1 1939

Game is pretty sluggish till war starts! Started 4 tank divs, (2 larm, 1 mot, 1 eng) Start 4.2 Guards divs (Gua x3), 1 MOT (mot x3). Officers are main trouble with unit builds as USSR, I am at 103% trying to add to it and strengthen army. Building runs of ART and AT to fill out INF divs. Started infrastructer build from moscow west and sw to Odessa area. Wish I'd done that earlier. Moved major force to Romanian border - 3 stacks with MOT, LARM, CAV filling out 1 per stack. Sent 2 Corps to Finnish area. Spent idle time giving HQ's and Divs leaders. Soviet OOB is bad. Did little shuffling of it assigning new divisions to fill out HQ's on front lines. Sent 2 light corps to Turkish border. Building M/R fighters (more the merrier) and a odd CAS or 2, maybe 3. Tryng to get GREAT ARMY, NAVY, AF by 1941. Totals are 454 divisions, 40 ships and 37 aircraft.
 
Aug 15 1939

Accepted MR pact and waited for GER to begin war. Happened so fast I might of missed it. I've taken out Poland in 12 days as GER, I think AI did it in 6 this game. Annex the Baltics came up and demand eastern Poland. About time as I'm starving for LS and IC. Everything seems to be going as planned except a couple Asian countries joined Axis (minor Chinese ones I can't spell).

Nov 30 1939

I forget to mobilize and fire Finnish war! My rear gets kicked everywhere except at St. Petersburg northern 2 provodences. No worries, I look at this war as chance to gain experience for my units and to get battles for Veteran Bonuses! IC is stuck on 299 with no - or should I say NO new laws to help me out. All my air units are full org and flying missions for experience gains. I've divided my subs into 2 stacks and sent them out with the small (micro) Red Banner fleet. They have happy hunting sinking many convoys but NO surface engagements. Armies recoup strength and march to Helsinki over running and capturing or wiping out the Finnish divisions. Fight was cake walk after we reinforced all units, IC was 90 to reinforce then down to about 14 when Finns caved in.
 
Jan 1940

Did a few non historic changes to further my world conquest goal. Annexed the Finns to get Bonus (10% Ls), that cancels MR pacts non aggression clause so I'm scared now of stab in the chest by Germany. Rus/Ger border is a mess. I need INF to fill in holes, but have strong reserve forces. I guess I was thinking of 100-200% clause to break non aggression pack. So border is half manned with INF ( Inf x3 ) divisions. Few have been reinforced. At this point I'm starving for action and IC and Ls points! Germany has me worried and against my better judgement I invade Romania. Romanians lose every battle but hold out till 3 ( yes three ) providences are left. Air force was doing ground attack missions with everything that could fly. Navy refused to leave port. Hungarians are in Axis camp and manned border in force till Germany DOW'd the Dutch. No Hungarians to be seen now so I rested up a week or two and marched thru Bulgaria. Not sure if my armies are good or if the Romanians and Bulgarians were really lame. Greece and Turkey (another 10% Ls Bonus ) are next. Moved 2 light Corps to Swedish border. Italians entered war but are sitskrieging on western front. At this point I expect Allies and/or Axis to DOW me. I've neglected Japanese border too! After I take Greece, Turkey, and Sweden I'll prepare for Afganastan and Persia, then India if I'm at war with Allies. Need divisions on all fronts and a Navy. War should help IC but time to prepare might be better at this point so I'll easy into next 3 conflicts to keep -15 Cg modifier.
