Hi guys im on vacation at the moment on the other side of australia to where im from, id love to test the new patch out but unfortunately im away till next week, id also like to buy together for victory but i feel it does not have fair enough discount, from what ive gathered it has less content than death or dishonour and is a more expensive price, gonna hold onto my steam wallet and wait for a cheaper deal. Has it ever been around 10 dollars or any cheaper?

I've got to say that I left Hungary to last to do the achievements, since it seemed to be so popular. I really enjoyed Romania, though staying Democratic as the Czechs and holding off the Germans has been the highlight of my DoD runs.
The formation of Austria-Hungary is obviously going to get people excited, similar to how people like the idea of reforming the Roman Empire in EU4 and CK2. I'll see if I get the two Hungarian achievements this week, as then I'll be back at 100%!

Release tomorrow? Multiplayer bug? You do realize that the 1.4.1. beta update from 26/6 has introduced a significant amount of new bugs in SP. Just check the bug report forum.

afaik we have fixed all stuff introduced (you might not have gotten the fix yet). but feel free to list stuff to me so I can see if we missed something. Most reports are about old stuff still

Can you expand on what that is? Is it the one causing resysncs in late game?
Yea. well it seems to happen late game only. multithreading related

Nice to see the devs getting some "reinforcements".

I approve of the bug-swatting, but I have to say that when it comes to new scenarios: if there was a 1933 scenario (preferably starting 30.1.1933), I suspect that would probably be the one preferred by most users. No idea how that scenario could be made without new focus trees, though.

However, when it comes to putting a new focus for further developement of the game, naval warfare, overhaul of the major nations focusses (dlc?) and readjusting the AI in terms of policies and production seem to be important topics here in the forum at the moment.

I agree, a 1933 start would be awesome, and add more of a political and economic aspect to the game. The major nations need a complete overhaul on the National Focus's.

Welcome to the team People!!!

No 1933 scenario please, that's too much preparation time. I am not exited about 1939 scenario either. The best part of HOI is always the building up toward war.

I filed a bug report yesterday that tags don´t follow the historical order of the focuses with historical focuses turned on (like germany dowing the SU before Weserübung) and that this also causes wars within a faction (Hungary and Romania being at war while both being in the axis). I observed none of this before the 26/6 update of 1.4.1. beta, so it seems new to me.

Hi! I am @shultays , I am a new programmer at the team and I just joined Paradox a of couple weeks ago. I studied C.S. and then started working with embedded systems for a while (*yuck*) but I have been professionally developing games for the last couple years now. I am excited to work at Paradox and to work on such a complex game! I will be working mostly on the A.I., trying to make game more challenging and fun for you people. Get ready because soon you will be also fighting against me when you fight against the A.I.! Feel free to report anything or contact me so I can improve things around.

@JohanLerstrom here, I'm a senior programmer here at PDS and have worked on pretty much every game we have released since CK2. I even had a brief attempt at leading the CK2 team ( where you might have seen me in some streams ) but programming is my passion so I left the manager hat on the shelf and I've been moving between projects helping out for some time now. My very first contact with Paradox was playing Hearts of Iron 1 with my friends at a LAN party back in what feels like a million years ago so it feels fitting to be working on HoI4 now. My spare time is almost 100% Factorio these days, except an hour per week of Twin Peaks. (Podcat's note: not quite true, we also spend some work lunches discussing Twin peaks)

Yo people! I'm @Bratyn , a bit of the 'wild card' content designer at PDS (been on quite a few projects in a short span of time). I'm excited to be on HOI4 again (had a brief stint on it helping out for DoD), and this time I'll be here for a lot longer, working on some more cool content for HOI4 that I think is going to make the game even more fun to play. I'm Dutch, studied English and History in Norway (don't ask...), and wrote my Master's thesis on WWII while Paradox was developing HOI4. I love my strategy games, so you can imagine how excited I was to finally get to play HOI4 when it released, about a month after I had finished researching the period for nearly two years. Some interests of mine include history, sci-fi, astronomy (and science in general), and a nascent fascination with big WWII-era warships (WoWs!). Just gotta talk Podcat into adding more of the latter (and making them more fun to use) in HOI4...

Best of luck guys!

I actually really love the 1939 start, as WW2 tends to play out until 1945 there, and not 1943 or 1942, which often happens in 1936 playthroughs. Plus, it's more fun for China.

I really like the idea of a 1933 start date as well. I have tried to modify this in but never got it to work properly. The game simply doesn't like starting before 1935. Starting in 1933 is when Germany really fell into the dark side and started their move toward national militarism. You could truly build an industrial power house with a few extra years in Germany. Muhhahahahaha

@podcat
No matter what your statistics will say, I will play Japan again and again! ;) And I am not wondering that Austria-Hungary is that popular. There is a great fan base for kingdom franchise in the community, so if you would rework the German focus tree with a Kaiserreich tree, Germany Players would increase a lot.
Romania and the others are nice content, but compared to Spain, PR China, China and Turkey it was a bad choice. Nevertheless, my friends were happy with Yugoslavia and Romania ... :)

Starting 1936 makes sense, because players want to chose their focus from begin on. If they start 1939, some basic decisions are done and I guess people doesn't like that much. If you want to add another start, maybe 1933 or even 1918 could be interesting ;)

Best news is that your team has grown. More developers for HOI4 means more and better content .... and fixes, of course :)

podcat, did you fix the AI from madly researching doctrines and not keeping their tanks and airplanes up to date? And for that matter it seemed that no carrier aircraft were researched at all in 1.4.

For me, I cannot play the game if I am in 1942 and facing US 1933 biplanes fighters on their carriers while playing as Japan. Please get this sorted out! This is my favorite PDS game!

@podcat As a solo-Pol(and) player, I would love to see 1933 :) It would set up Poland as a more interesting and potentially powerful player (Yay Josef Pilsudski!) given the squabbles with Russia plus as a historian I love the political aspects behind the rise to Hitler. To me, they are very "popcorn grabbing" dramatic moments.

Love the game overall and hello to the new team members!

A 1933 start would simply just weaken Germany. I see little other effects than that.

Intervening in 1936 when they remilitarize the Rhineland will very likely cause a german defeat already (and rightly so), and there were many occasions between 1933 and 1936 where the odds where even more in favor of the Allies.

I think Darkest Hour proved that a 1933 start is a viable one, even though the Devs and many of the forumites disagree that that is a good date.

Germany was very much weakened in DH in 1933. You essentially do what you can to improve your situation so you can even get to the point of churning out a modern military. Oh and for that matter, most of their army that they did start out with was way behind in technology. if I remember right, much of it is 1918 infantry.

That, and I do believe that 1933 was by far the most popular starting point of Darkest Hour. Devs, just go an have a look at the game and see what they've done and how it plays.
