Hello all, here are few quick questions:

1.HRE
I know that Spain, Austria and Catholic German monarchs can become Holy Roman Emperor. Can other nations owning a province within the HRE also be candidates?

If the Emperor's nation changes religion does he immediately get booted out?

Looking at Mr Huszics list of HRE provinces, and those which appear in the religion screen, it appears that French and Polish (but not Dutch) provinces get excluded from the HRE. Does this therefore exclude their monarchs from being Emperor?

2.Tech Particulars
There are some tech increases which only apply to certain branches of the military. For instance ammo carriages for artillery, and caricole for cavalry. Now, when the appropriate tech is reached does the particular branch of the army benefit from the gain, or do they all benefit?

Or is it even less granular, with the techs providing nothing other than the era switch of column in the combat CRT as outlined in the FAQ?

Marching and Sailing Speed
Is it my imagination, or do fleets move faster as they rise in tech?

Do armies move at different speeds as they rise up the tech tree?

Thanks

Yes, fleets move faster. Armies AFAIK don't

The provinces that are considered part of the HRE change over time, as they did historically. It's possible for the ruler of other countries that have gained provinces in Germany to become Emperor.

But apparantly not the French. When Cologne was independent it was part of the HRE, France took it, then it was moved outside, Holland took it and it moved back inside again. It looks like the same may be happening to Poland.

Is this an Austrian conspiracy to ensure that only they have enough money to win the HRE?

Emperor oh the HRE

I have seen weird things happening when appointing emperor of the HRE:

Netherlands, some Italian minor provinces (Milan, even Papal states), Poland has been elected Emperor, but as already stated I never saw France being Emperor.

I think there is a preference for an austrian or spanish emperor, but this is nothing that *always* happens.

Thanks for the answers. I don't see how France can get the nomination if their provinces keep being gerrymandered out of the HRE, but that's politics :)

Austria always seems to do pretty well in my games so they have just about monopolized the position by the time Rudolph arrives. Although someone mentioned before that the immortal Hansetag ascended to be Emperor (by commitee I presume)
