The controls of this game with keyboard are horrible. How could anyone didn't notice that in the beta and change?

up down, left, right, are not north, south, east, west but something like

up - up
down - south west
left - left
right - south east

Also combinations of 2 keys doesn't work as expected

up + right = right not north-east while up + left works to north-west
down + right = down ¿?¿?

Seriously this is a BIG problem of usability and a basic design, who tested this before the release?

PS: I remapped my keys from up down right left to the typical wasd/esdf

The W A S D keys move your character up, left, down and right in orientation with the gamescreen/monitor. If you, for example, hold both W and A down, you character will move towards the upper left (diagonally). The mouse pointer helps you aim.

If you are getting correct results before rebinding the keys but experience odd behavior after, we will ask the devs to look into it as a possible bug.

Note: Movement on the mouse would not really work for Dungeonland since it is not meant to be played in the same manner as, for example, Diablo. It's meant to be like an old-school arcade game in the way it plays.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the info Joef, but I have another question aswell, the rebinding of the keys is "broken"? if I can call it that, and I don't seem to find an .ini file with the config settings in. Might you be able to help me with this issue? (So i can post it on the steam forums aswell, I believe some other people have the same issue)

Thanks!

The issue has been forwarded to the devs. Rest assured that Dungeon Maetro will whip them senseless for letting a gremlin loose in the system, until they take care of it.

If it's not too much trouble, if would be great if you reset the keys to the default scheme while it's being looked into.

Thanks!

Yes it is a bug finally, up down left right works ok, also WASD, but with ESDF I have the problems that I said before, instead of going up down left right it moves diagonally and the 2 keys combination doesn't work at all.
I'll try to use wasd until it is fixed.

Speaking of controls, while I can change the bindings for the heroes, there doesn't seem to be any way to change the Dungeon Maestro's controls (at least not in the in-game options). I knew he was evil, but forcing you to only the buttons he deems appropriate? That monster!

And that unfortunately is what had me remove DungeonLand from my steam check out cart. It sounds very much like it controls like that other dungeon'esque type of game where you have to move your toons using WASD to get around, although I think the devs of that game put out a mod that allowed the toons to follow the mouse so where ever the mouse pointed if you pressed W the toon would chase the mouse cursor direction which in this type of game is much more intuitive to me than trying to hit the correct movement key based on your gamescreen / monitor orientation.

What a shame, I was really kind of looking forward to this.

While I understand what you are saying about how it's "meant" to be played, an alternative control scheme of "chase the mouse" would certainly not hinder the games sales any and would only open it up to more people.

A bug I've experienced while playing with the mouse and keyboard makes it so the character follows the mouse cursor, I don't know if this is 100% bug, or leftover programming from a dropped control scheme. Unfortunately clicking to attack makes the movement stop and return to normal WASD movement. But if it is due to some left over code, then maybe there might be a way for an alternate control scheme to be put in.
