I've been having this issue along with my friends when trying to hot join a game of Stellaris. Most specifically it's not as big of an issue during the pre-game phase when the host is first loading the game from the save file, if we all hot join at the same time there isn't an issue. As soon as we get multiple people into the game however if anyone tries to direct connect join for a hot join after that first wave, the game freezes for 10-15 seconds before it says connection failed. While at a glance it seems like it'd just then be an ordering issue of getting everyone in at the same time, the problem will increase exponentially in longer running games where desync's are prone to happen. Waiting for one player to be able to rejoin from a desync is manageable, but if we have to restart the whole game then it becomes a massive issue that just isn't worth it.
I should note too that it doesn't seem to be an issue with every multiplayer game. Out of curiosity I tried to direct connect to two different no-password games to test this. One let me go through the direct join process as usual. The other had the same problem where the game would freeze and then say connection failed.
As of this time all games have been the most recent stable version (Niven 2.1.3, 42f6), no mods. This issue never happened before, so would anyone know the reason for it?
