Just bought the game today, tough it would have been the greatest games i've play in a long time. But guess what i play for 10 minutes & games crash to desktop. What's wrong whith this games. I have a Pentium 733mz 128meg ram. Gforce 32 meg. Use Windows 98. I was previously playing Black & white & never had any problem playing it; until level 5 major bug in it. So i decided to buy this games who seem to have a greath rating. Guess what this games as even worst crash. I've tried to play tutorial for 15 minutes & i get a crash to desktop. For what i see when computer compagny sell games they should write what kind of meg of ram, processor, video card, bios, system ,hard drive & program we need to install on our system to play games. I've just spent $65 for a game I can't even play. On top of everything merchant won't give me my money back. If Computer Cie don't know how to program games without major bug well they should just sent their staff back to school. Hope this msg wake programer up & they start working on a patch that fix that desktop crask.

Hum What do u think of course

U think i will post on this board withouth trying the latest patch, the latest driver & Directx. For sure i did. I think the main problem with the game it 's that it does'nt distribute the memory in the right way. OF course maybe the latest patch got realeased. Version 1.9. Then i would write again to appolozise of my mistake.

Mytrias.

Take heart, you're one of a legion of us with crashing problems. Fortunately, the game is worth sticking with even with its annoyances. Now for your problems, installing more RAM might help... Have you also made sure you've got nothing running in the background when you start up a game? Prior to playing I reboot and turn off all programs running in the background that I can. Since I've followed the "reboot, no background programs" procedure the crashes have become less frequent.

Good luck!

The current version of the program seems to do funny things with computer memory. I've noticed that after I crash to desktop my system monitor shows maybe half my memory being used up even though I have shut down all other programs. When I reboot I'll have like 90 percent or so available. I tripled my RAM and it didn't seem to help at all. The program seems to take up all the memory you have not matter how much you have. It most often crashes on me when there's a lot of activity, which makes you wonder if it's eaten up the memory and can't handle much activity within the game. I'd echo the thought that there are a lot of us waiting for 1.09 in the hopes that the program will be stable enough to use.

Did some test on my own

I've decided to change my desktop resolution from 1600x1200 32bit to 800X600 16bit to see if there was any improvement. Quess what? i can now play the games for 1 or 2 hours whith no crash; but as soon as i get into a major war, the game crash to desktop again. I'm starting to think it s because the game it's unstable. Just like previous post mention, that's the only explanation.

The "only explanation"?
I very much doubt that. It may be the explanation that you would like it to be so you can blame Paradox.
However I have *never* had the game crash on me but if it was "unstable" then surely I would have?
"Only explanation" indeed...........
