I had a problem with the launcher recognizing mods and being too lazy to fix it manually I went for the nuclear option and just deleted the launcher completely and hoped reinstalling it would fix it. Now whenever I try to reinstall it the setup tells me a newer version of Paradox Launcher is already installed.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Thank you for the help, deleting everything I could find in app data fixed it.

I am having the same problem. When i click the play button the game does not launch. I tried running the advice above and it did not solve the issue.

I am attaching the logs under the launcher directory as advised by Victoria 3 finally

I am running Windows 11, I have 16 gigabytes of RAM.

Steam version: 1738026274
Steam API Version: SteamClient021

Your help is appreciated.

When you hit the PLAY button in Steam the launcher does not launch?

Or when you hit the PLAY button in the launcher the game does not launch?

Then that is indeed a launcher issue. Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Note that you can run imperator.exe directly from File Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

I have the same issue of the installer saying there is another version installed. I am using steam and tried removing the folders in appdata and running steam in administrator but the issue persists.

The swedish text in the image says "0x80070666 - A different version of this product is already installed. The installation of this version can't proceed. Use the option Add/Remove program in the control panel to configure or remove the already installed version"

There is however no paradox launcher or anything of the likes in the menu so there is nothing I can remove.
I attached the logs incase they are of any help

Thanks ahead of time!
