how come you can't turn sound effects off???

Even if I turn them off(set them to 0) they're still there loud and clear. Music can be turned off but the SFX nope...and those sounds for battles are truly annoying after you hear them the 100th time...
is it just me or you truly can not turn them off???
Lately I've been using winamp to enhance the atmosphere while playing and it's madening I have to suffer those SFX with it...................

I've noticed the same problem on my computer. It appears to be impossible to turn the sound fx off.

I agree it is very annoying. I think some of the effects are muted but some are still there, most notably the battle sounds and the sound of the blacksmith's hammer...

And I, too, tríed to use Winamp when playing.

devs - plz fix this in the next patch...oh and another thing - why does it take fooooooooorever to exit the game?
granted my computer is not the latest thing out there but it's still a p3 866mhz with 256sdram - you'd expect it to be a bit faster than it is.
