How do I change my username?

It seems that I accidentally changed my username somehow with multi-byte codes, which may be trouble with communication.
I wandered a few hours to find how to revert or change a username in vain.
Any idea?

Short answer: YOu can't.

Thouhg, if you end up with e.g an obscene name then names have been known to have been changed in the past.

But basically you can't change.

Albeit, tht said, then I know of at least one case of somebody having their username changed when logging into their PDX account in EU4. It then changed to their steam name.
No idea if that only happens the first time, or if it happens every time you log into your PDX account in EU4. And tha tmight also have been patched out again for all I know.

I think that was patched out, tried but wasn't able to replicate it :(

Edit: I seem to have been wrong as someone else has just done it. Still doesn't work for me though

Just would like to add my +1 for "would like to change forum usernames".

If it's impossible, I hope at least it'll be possible next time there's a big forum overhaul.

At least we can search properly on the forums now. I remember the old days back when they had to disable search entirely, that was HORRIBLE pain.
 
It's not possible to change forum usernames unless there's an actual error present, if so, please email us at support and we'll see if we can fix it.

Yesterday as I logged in to make a first comment, I could pick a username, but today as I logged in again, it automatically changed it to this one now, which I don't remember setting - it's a very old one I haven't used in years.

Have you by any chance used it on Steam and linked your steam?
Thre used to be a bug that overwrote your username if something specific happened with your steam account.
Thought that had been fixed by now, though.

no, my steam username was what I put initially as my username here too, I have no idea why it reverted to this ancient username.
Oh well, I guess I have to live with slightly silly name on these forums :p
anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond!
