Playing Russia in the GC, I attacked the Turks in the hope of gaining 3 of their remaining 4 Crimean provinces. All went well - I captured all the provinces and stopped the Turk's invasion of Georgia. I believe I lost a battle or two but I won more often than I lost. When I go to peace table, they refuse to give me 3 provinces and only offered 1 that doesn't border my territory. I expected this so I figured if I captured a few provinces in Asia Minor, they would give me what I want. Or so I thought.

The Turks simply REFUSED to give me 3 provinces no matter what I did. I occupied the 3 provinces on the southern coast of the Black Sea, and they offered me one province of dubious value. So I pushed onto Thrace and captured Constantinople. With 8 of their provinces under my control, including their capital, I was sure they would give me what I want. They didn't and offered me Angora which I couldn't possibly defend.

At this point, I just went bezerk. One army captured Greece (3 provinces) and another grabbed two in Asia Minor. Still, they would not give me 3 provinces.

To make this long story short, I eventually captured all of the Turks' contiguous provinces except for Bulgaria (under siege and close to collapse), Albania and Cyprus. I had my flag on territories from Moldova to Judea. ONLY THEN did they grant me 3 provinces after 8 years of war.

What did I do wrong? All I wanted was Azoz, Crimea and Kerch...

Make seperate peaces with Turkey's allies, make sure you occupy their capital and make sure you have at least 6 stars at the negociating table.

You should be able to get your 3 provinces. good luck

But is still rather hard to get the three you want. Best way is more often to make sure to take enough to get six stars and the only ask for two provinces, that works almost 100% of the times.

Thanks everyone.

I am guessing that getting exactly what you want isn't easy. Maybe I am just spoiled with my experiences with Poland. The Polish always seem to give me what I want. Then again, I tend to attack them when they are at war elsewhere.

I tried to get the Turks allies out of the war but they wouldn't accept a White Peace and they weren't doing anything that deserved wasting ducats on them. Only Cynerica's army showed up and was quickly crushed each time with minimal casulties. Who knows where Tunis and Algiers' forces were, but they didn't want peace.

BTW, full annexation would have been difficult even if they weren't a major. The Turks have sizeable colonial possessions including South Africa. Since my fleet is seven ships (with no maps, I had no use for them), taking those territories would have been complicated. Now that I have the excellent Turkish maps, that is going to change.

As you have experienced, the only way to get what you want (when it is three provinces), and you don't have seven stars is to take pretty much everything you can, and wait a long time. Eventually, you can ask and get what you want.
