I was wondering how you all cope with people not behaving like they should in the books and not following the script...do you go into a sandbox mode in your heads or something

I don't mind so much if it is sort of plausible, otherwise yeah it is annoying sometimes.

I get bored if every game turns out like the books. I'd much rather change things up on occasion. In my current game, I edited in an event that forces Valyrian's to use strict enatic succession and am slowing spreading the gospel to Westeros with the help of dragons. Good times. My next game I'll probably go back to playing the mod like the books.

I always find it interesting to see what the computer decides should happen at the end of this chronicle :p Though usually I tend to avoid anything after the After The Spring bookmark or thereabouts. I much prefer creating original stories as some smalltime lordling slowly gaining weight behind his family's name and all that.

Ah interesting. I think I will try playing in ages that are not depicted in the books (in detail at least) and go from there.
I suppose if you pick someone small that you care about then it might be more fun to see where you can take them?

Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat in the After the Spring start is good because she's a known character and not just some random person, you can work your way up from count, and it's well outside the timeframe of the books.

Overall i don't mind much since just being able to play in this world is amazing but sometimes i do get annoyed. Mostly because of stupid marriages like Arianna Martell marrying some random 1 province lord or most recently Catelyn Tully marrying Joffrey Lannister (i laughed at that though. Also relations between characters annoy me sometimes too. For instance, every time i play as Robb Stark and win the war Sansa always hates me even if i save her before she marries Joffrey. She is a claimanant to the north and so hates her older brother who saved her from Joffrey lol. Also i hate when major families die off and some random family takes over as Lord Paramounts.
I
ts not the mod's fault though but still it gets a little annoying.

I tried to play as Tywin Lannister but then Jamie got killed by one of the members of the Kingswood brotherhood. So I declared war on Robert in a rage and then got killed by Robert in single combat and Tyrion became King Tyrion the Imp for about a week then he became a Prince...

This is a problem that I as a history buff have with the vanilla game all the time, so do what I do and suck it up. :p That being said there's a reason I prefer to play in earlier time periods.
