There is no way of doing that within the game. But the saved game is just a Windows file like any other, you can copy it like you can any other file.

Just look in the Rome save game folder and you'll see the games all in there.

If you installed Rome into the suggested default, Vista has redirected them to c:\users\[name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\save games, where [name] is your user name in Vista.

You may need to log in as Vista Administrator to see that directory structure, I'm not sure - I don't have Vista. Aside from that, maybe you could search the whole disk for the name of one of your save games, as you see it in the game.

The appdata folder might be hidden.
When you are in you "user name" folder, just paste in \appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\
after the current path.

Well, you need some computer help, this is nothing to do with the game as such. The save games are in the save games folder somewhere, I promise you!

This may be true, but I also could not find the saved game files given that
location (I also have Vista). But that IS the location when you look at the
file properties.

This is how I found it:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interative\Europa Universalis - Rome\save games

When you get here it might say the folder is empty. Right above the file name
space is a bar which contains a button for Compatibility Files. Click on this
button and viola! Your saved games should now be listed. :)

what did you mean by (x86) in there do i need to replace it with something?

No. In my file system, the game files are located in the Program Files (x86)
directory. I found this to be new on this PC which has Vista, where as before
on my last Windows XP PC there was only a Program Files directory. Seems
Vista has them both but my game files were installed into the Program Files
(x86) directory.

I cannot see your file system so I cannot be sure where exactly Rome was
installed on your PC, but I hope you get the idea of what I was trying to
convey. If not, let me know and I'll try to clarify for you. :)

ok i have tried it with and without the (x86) and am still not getting anything:( so im not sure cuz if i do a computer search of the save game name it come up with nothing so it has to be in a hidden folder or something

any more ideas? i really would like to back up my savegame files but even when i use the search bar on my start menu and search for the file it says it doesnt exist but the game shows that it s there somewhere

Two guesses:

First guess: You are using a mod (any mod) - this results in your save games directory being a subdirectory to the relevant mod directory:

Example: $ROMEINSTALL$/mod/$MODNAME/save games/$SAVEFILENAME

rather than, as would usually be the case, $ROMEINSTALL$/save games/$SAVEFILENAME

Second guess: Your attempt to find where your save games are stored are foiled by your typing the wrong name to search for or by only searching in files indexed by Vista (the default in the awful Vista search tool you are using) rather than, for instance, searching the entire hard drive. All Rome save games are stored as .rome files - as an example, autosave.rome or Iberia508_09_17.rome

Really, though, what you need most of all is a general understanding of how the Vista directory structure and filing system works. This ought to be in your manual or in online guides for the newbie windows user on the net.
