I am thinking of doing a (fairly basic) mod this afternoon to consolidate:

*fixed tech-rates
*religion spread events modified so it can worrk overseas
*slower civ-spread to stop colony spam

I am used to making HOI2 mods which just unzip replacement files over the game.

Advice on how I am meant to use the 'mods' folder would be much appreciated.

I tried that, but it still doesn't let me use my mod. In the mod folder I have a folder for my mod which contains all my files. It's name is "RegnumIudaeorum". I decided not to use spaces in the file name, just to make it easier. I also have the file "RegnumIudaeorum.mod". It is a .txt file, which I thought was what the wiki said to use.
RegnumIudaeorum.mod reads like this:
Code:
name = "Regnum Iudaeorum v. 0.1"
extend = "common"
extend = "events"
extend = "history"
extend = "localisation"
extend = "map"
extend = "interface"
extend = "gfx"
extend = "sound"

The wiki did not mention any other necessary steps in order to make the mod playable, but still, when I start up the launcher, the only mod option I have is "default". What am I doing wrong? Or perhaps not doing at all that I need to do? :confused:

I wonder if it is actually RegnumIudaerorum.mod.txt - which would not work.
That might be what it is. The file name only appears as "RegnumIdaeorum.mod", but as it is a .txt file that may be the problem. How do I resolve this?

I suggest fiddling with the folder display options and right-clicking the files properties. XP occasionally does this to me as well ;)

I've checked the file's properties, but I didn't see any way to change it to a .mod file. :confused:

First, make sure you're showing extensions (not just filenames). Somewhere in Folder Options you can do this (called 'hide extensions' -- disable).

Then see if it is called .mod or .txt -- if it is .txt, right-click and rename it so the extension is .mod.

You can prevent Notepad from saving files as .txt by surrounding the filename in quotes " before you save.

Thankyou! I finally got it working! Thanks to everyone for their help! :cool:

I have a problem with moddir. I just created few new icons for traits, yet the game doesn't recognize them. I tried to replace them and suddenly they are where they should be :wacko:

So how to add new graphics icons?
