How do you get titles?

Ive been on the forums for a few months now after lurking for a year and i wandering the deal with "titles" under your forumite username. How do you get them? Is there some place to edit them, do you earn them or can apply for them? If you don't get what i mean about titles mines currently "Captain".

Go to "USER CP" then "edit you details" there is a place to type cutoms titles, then save.

As you can see this freakn' jester has a custom title with lesser postings than me. But he registered on the forums in 2002. Maybe a hint?

To be able to use a custom title you need to either get 3,000 posts or to have been a member for 18 months, which ever comes first. Since you joined 18 September 2009, you'll have to wait until 18 May 2011, unless you reach the required post count.

Well, yes, it is possible to customize, but default titles (Sergeant, Captain, Recruit...) are based on post count.

yes but moderators can give titles to people regardless of post count or time spent

I don't really see the charm in custom user titles, as you can tell by the fact that i've just let the default one remain. Now it's custom avatars that I miss, I used to have this pretty cool looking one about three years back.

Field Marshal isn't a custom title.
