How Do You Mine Gold?

I have a province with gold in it, great or so I thought. I put in a trading post, and get nothing, I don't get any riches. What I'm I doing wrong? Do I need to colonize that province, and or get a city there, in order to get the gold bars going off to my mint. What are the game mechanics here?

Yes, at least a colony (it's treated as production income)

If u find a gold province try to get it as big as a city asap. Once it is a city that should yield a serious bonus for ur income.

The differences isn't that greate, from a lvl 6 colony to a city with more then 5000 inhabitants the differens is only 16,67% + in production income.

I just want it to be a city so that u can build the improvements and protect it with a fortress. I ain't taking any risks with a goldmine
