That wonderful situation when you and the other clan own a third of Japan and go for all out war. Both sides throwing waves and waves at each other, doomstack wipes out a doomstack, a stream of levies and vassal retinues flows to the clashes, the front line doesn't really move for a decade...
I managed to start one such war, get my clan leader ninjad, inherit into his lowly 5 kokujin/4 daimyo relative, make my way to the list of current clan leader heirs, inherit back into leadership, and that war was still going on pretty much in the same provinces. I'm thinking of killing my character, just to let the AI keep on the droning for another decade or two.

It's not even a problem of winning battles or sieges. Both sides suffer no attrition, and if you split your territory into sections, you can cycle between raising levies there and forming a stack or two, while your kokujin maintain the front. Sure the money runs tight but as your levies get killed off the budget deficit is gone, and the piggy bank fills up again. I went from 900 to 9 to 900 without the front moving.
