I'm getting into modding and every now and then I notice some things the modders do that are not documented on the wiki. I'd love to fill in the missing information, but it looks like I'm running into the following hurdle:

The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Autoconfirmed users, Autopatrol.
Is there a process to go through?

edit: SolSys has helpfully resolved the matter by adding my wiki account to an appropriate group

According to the Wiki, my account there is in group 'Users'. Presumably that's not enough to satisfy the requirements that the Edit/Source tab displays. What are your own groups?

I noticed my Steam Link was out of date yesterday so I re-linked and re-synced my items just in case. This doesn't appear to have helped.

Grab a lamb from the English plains, sacrifice it on the grave of Victoria.
Bring the heart as an offering to Martin and Chris, with each getting exactly half.
Beg them three times for a Victoria 3.
Go to Germany and pray for three days near the grave of Bismarck for a Gross-Deutschland.
Only then shall you receive the blessing of the Paradox Gods to write the sacred script...

Reactions:
Some Wiki pages can be limited to use by moderators only etc.
Likely for many reasons, but also simply because too many people mess around with the Wiki who have no clue.

It can also be accidental.
Either post in the stickied Vic II Wiki thread or start a conversation/PM here in the forum with one of the VicII moderators and ask.

If you'd say what page you tried to edit, i could tell you if it's an issue with your account or something general.
I could also imagine you need some qualification (posts number, year of joining) to edit the Wiki or speciifc pages, but that's just a wild guess on my part.

The one wiki sticky I can see is locked and I cannot post in it.

All the pages I can find display the same restriction. Here's one from hitting the 'random' button. Can you edit one yourself? Which group or groups is your account listed as?

Just saw that. I did send a pm to a mod asking why.

1) After logging in over there i can click on Edit tab fine and get the according page without any mention of limitations as you said above.

2) Where would i see what group i'm in ?

Interesting. You will find your groups in your preferences, which you can access through a link in the top right corner on the wiki.

Well..
Member of groups: Autoconfirmed users, Users

Hmm....
Do you use a seperate account on the Wiki ?
Maybe that's your problem.
You only need to log in nowadays with your Patradox account or simply click on log-in while you are logged into the forum.

@Meneth

can you illuminate upon this for us?

Thanks for your help, this 'autoconfirmed users' group certainly looks like a clue now.

As to the login, I've only ever used the unified paradox login. Whether I login on the wiki or on paradoxplaza.com, I end up on the same account. (The former directs you to login.paradoxplaza.com to login anyway.)

Please leave me a note of the wiki you tried to work on and what action you tried to do.
You can do so by clicking on my username and choosing "start a conversation".

Thanks.

I was not sure if this was ever resolved. But I wanted to make an edit to a section of the Victoria 2 wiki, and I appear to be having the same issue as the OP. I am able to edit other paradox wikis (CK2, EU4).

When I go to a page the "Edit" tab in the top right just does not exist. When I click "View Source" Tab, there is a message "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Autoconfirmed users, Autopatrol"

The Page Information screen always shows the Page Protection as "Edit - Allow all users (infinite)" and "Move - Allow all users (infinite)".

Also, the "Discussion" tab is not available to edit, so someone cannot submit suggestions to the discussion tab for incorporation into the wiki.

Thanks

The old wikis operate on a legacy mode and as such only confirmed users can edit them.
I've moved you to a group so you would be able to edit them.

I have granted a temporary permission for the time (no previous edits?). It will be changed to a permanent one after a month.

Thanks, I'm new to the wikis, but feel really motivated to contribute lately due to boredom from the quarantine. My goal is to create a page for the Developer Diaries and a bunch of pages for all the patches. Do you know how to create a new page in the wiki?

Before starting one it is always advised to search for the topic. If you can't find it you'll be prompted to create a new page -- click on red link of the search term.

Try to follow the style guidelines as much as possible (link should be on sidebar).
