Hero's in a Imperial APC so how do these hero traits affect her?

Steady Aim, "Attacks with ranged weapons are 15% more accurate when fired from cover."
-As a large vehicle the APC can't receive the effects of cover, so is that trait useless for her?

Dig in, "The hero....gains +2 resistance to all damage while in cover."
-Basically, same question..Useless for her?

Thanks!

as far as i know, they have no effect on a unit that cannot take cover. However, you are not locked to be in the vehicle forever. Additionally, in combat, its possible for your vehicle to be destroyed causing the hero to eject with ~20 hp.

Most vehicles gain nothing. They are usually large targets, wich means they can not take cover (except behind sight blockers)*.
Fliers can not take Cover anyway.

However there are non-large vehicles, besides the starting ones. For the Dvar, the baron and Bulwark are non-large vehicles.

*Note that the bonus might apply to all directions if adjacent to any cover. The Amazons Skill "Visual Acuity" gives +1 Range if "in cover". But in reality it is +1 range adjacent to cover. They can stand besides a tree without it begin between them and the enemy, and still receive the full bonus.

I note a time when this is especially relevant is when you have a large unit designed to escort units. Like the Promethean tank. Incidentally the Amazon Purifier is also a bow wielder that has Visual Acuity. This is just one small part of why I believe Amazon is the absolute best as Promethean.

The Vanguard motorcycle can also take cover I think. But most vehicles can't so it would be a waste of points.
Any vehicle your hero can start the game with, is Cover Capable:
Bullwark, Lancer, Laser Bike, Abyssian
In some cases they added a dedicated vehicle that only heroes can use (like the Assembly Bike).

But if you go piloting, you want to upgrade. And those upgrades are almost exclusively large targets. So Cover is not something you will maintain.

Huh, I never even considered that option. Indeed I never even considered adding the Mechanical Secret Tech units into a Amazon army.
The other reason would be that their Prurifier is repeating, something only vanguard share.

my hero's APC can take cover.
There is this "Blocks sight" cover. The kind you can not shoot through (except ignore LoS attacks). Behind that even large targets can hide.

And the Imperial APC is definitely a large unit. But maybe you meant some other thing.

Similarly, you also receive the +2 resistance to all Damage Channels for all units within an army led by a Dvar with the 'Siege Master'-Perk regardless of whether the cover is between your units and the enemy, so even if you plan on putting that hero into a vehicle (unless you only want to use Flying units and/or Large Targets within that same army, of course), choosing this Perk at the first opportunity is almost always a good idea, especially against Amazons or units with Smart Bullets with their cover-ignoring bows/guns that would otherwise render Trencher's (advanced) trenches - or indeed any cover - (near) useless, as this way you still get some protection from them, notwithstanding the usefulness of that bonus against foes without bows/Smart Bullets.

Amazons bows ignore cover? I never even noticed that.
That does finally explain why they got 1 less range, even with Visual Acuity.
And it seems to be shared across all bows too!

Not necessarily. As someone pointed out in some thread, going attack or Support vehicle as weapon perk gives you a mod and 11 skill Points in total (5 piloting, 2 vitality 1, 4 vitality 2).
Any other perk only gives you 4 skill Points and a weapon.
Additionally, the starting vehicle can be sold for ~53 energy through the Arsenal, which can be a big deal in the early game. And the vehicles mostly are good enough for the early game, that you can just stay in it until you find a solid weapon.
Another plus is that you can just enter a flying vehicle whenever you want to traverse somewhere quickly or fight in the water.

I always go attack vehicle (as I simply dislike the generic imperial APC. Had they race-specific Support vehicles I'd probably take that one) nowadays, all it costs me are two early-game techs that don't really matter in the Long run, but the two vitality right away stay forever.

PS: The mod for Kir'Ko being Regeneration always/most often (can't remember if I ever got something else) is extremely helpful in the early fights.
