Mainly - how does it compare to HoI1 MP?

At some point I noticed I had much more fun playing HoI1 in MP - somehow I liked the combat system much better. Although I haven't really played patch 1.2. Did it improve gameplay a lot?

I've played just few MP games of both HoI1 and HoI2, but I find HoI2 much better indeed. It is important for me to fight opposing player not the interface and HoI2 clearly overruns HoI1 here. Movement-is-attack system makes it much more thrilling and imho more realistic too.

HOI 2 has its terrible flaws, but I also find it a better game than hoi 1. The land combat system in HOI 1 was ridiculous and out-of-touch with modern warfare. The model of "march to the middle of the province and fight a decisive battle there, the winner controlling the province" was appropriate for war through Napoleonic times, but does not apply to modern war. The HOI 2 combat system is far more appropriate for a WW2 game. It's just so fast.

I hope we get one more big patch with 1.3 to nail down technical issues, and I would like to see some major attention paid to the logistical system, which is rife with flaws and bugs. I've not played enough of 1.2 to know what else is a problem. I'm very happy the oil penalty is gone. That saves the game for me.

It's fun. It's worth playing.

Agree with the above. The balance between airpower and landpower needs to be redone as well, airpower is not powerful enough in HOI2 (it was too powerful in HOI1).

I am very hopeful that an eventual 1.3 or a mod (CORE, TRP) will nail all or most of the remaining issues (such as above).

I have to say, however, that the game is very enjoyable as it is, although it needs a few rules if you play MP. The key, imho, is to have a good regular group. Playing with just anybody (that you dont know) eventually leads to disaster (arguing, cheating, exploiting, etc).

Its great in Multi player but a few bugs like missing techs etc not picked up by the host PC is frustrating. Wish there was someone who could tell us how to edit save files to add missing techs to the hosts save.

The logistics needs to be sorted as well..there should be a seperate button for Auto maintain resource and a seperate button for auto maintain supplie convoys so the resource convoys dont keep stripping you supply convoys.

Aparat from that if yo uhave read any of the posts on the Aussie games we are having some big battles now appraoching japan and USA entering the war. We have been palying for over 8 weeks now so it is very playable if you have a stable group to play with.
