Hi all!

New in the CiM world, I have started the Berlin scenario (the one in the 1920's), and though I managed to go through it and generate some profit, I have a big problem with the line management: some bus stops are overcrowded! And I mean, on one single stop covered by one single line, I have 200 people waiting! I added more buses, but it doesn't seem to help much. The other stops are sort of OK on this line, some are even empty most of the time. Hence my question: how do you know how many buses are necessary on a line to make sure all passengers can travel in minimum time?

It's hard to tell. You might be able to have a good guess as you play more. Most of the time you start the line and adjust the number of vehicles according to actual demand.
Overcrowded stops is usually a problem with your network. Click on some passengers waiting there and see where they are going, maybe you need to create another line, maybe even building a metro line if this place is so popular.

Yes, I think in that particular case, a metro line would be the solution. I added 10 buses with 30 seats to the line, for a total of 24 buses (720 seats) and modified the line a bit. As a result, the number of passengers at that particular stop dropped at first, but then, because some other stops are full of people, all the buses quickly get to full capacity, and the stop went crowded again. Of course, it also generates traffic. Problem is, I don't have the money to build a metro line covering the bus line. good news is, I just need to make money to end this scenario now. So I'll patiently wait for money to run into the cashbox, and move to the next one! :)

Welcome to CiM World!

The problem might be the amount of stops of your lines. Usually bus lines should be short with 5-6 stops maximum. More than that make tram lines. Remember, you can have a passenger wanting to go from stop 1 to stop 6, 7, 8, 9. More stops you have, more capacity you need because people may be longer in your bus. Better 2 bus lines than 1 long line.
