How to activate the DLCs cd-keys?

Hello!

I am getting frustrated here, I run my game on steam using Linux as OS. The basic game runs fine. but I also have a bunch of DLCs that I cant activate.

When I start the game I get a small window where I can see my DLCs and the codes to activate them. And the option to copy these codes.

So far so good, It also informs me to use these codes when the game first starts. But at the next step you have the option to logout, continue, play + a list of Mods and... DLC that I can't click on, as if I didn have any DLCs at all. And no place where I can copy/past or type in the codes for the DLCs.

Same thing when the game itselfs starts. It just behaves as if I didn had any DLCs at all and no hint where I can activate them

So how do activate my DLCs?

In Steam click Games -> Activate a Product on Steam

I have done that, but I get the message "Invalid product code", I have 4 DLCs and get that message from all 4 codes.

If you get a window with the DLC you got and bought and it shows your codes, then obviously they are activated already.
They also show here under your avatar name, so must have activated them already.

You bought them directly at Steam right ?
This is under the assumption it works the same as on PC.
Activate base game and the DLC get activated automatically after buying them in Steam.

Do the DLCs not show up in the launcher window as this ?

Are you sure the DLC are not active in-game ?
You can also see the status in the "Content Settings" page which you can chose right after the game has loaded.
Also In the custom game setup page, at the right should be icons for the DLCs.


Either way, it sounds indeed like a tech support issue ( or misinterpreting useless Steam info boxes which you can ignore) and i recommend to wait for tech support.
Usually AndrewT shows up around (european perspective) late afternoon until early morning.

So the DLCs are checked in steam and installed but in the game itself they dont exists, I cant even click DLC in the left window - if that is where I am supposed to enter the codes for the DLCs.

Options to do:
Quit and restart Steam, seriously.
Do a "Verify integrity of game cache" in Ck2s' Steam properties.
If that doesn't help, unselect and reselect the DLCs in that Steam DLC window in your first picture.
If that doesn't help , quit Steam, delete the dlc_signature file in /home/user/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings II/
restart Steam and then the game via the Steam Library.

edit (25th may): Yeah more likely what AndrewT says below, the old Linux issue with the name of the DLC folder in capital letters.

Thos codes were for forum registration and have nothing to do with activation. We don't even use them for that any more either, instead you just need to link and sync your Paradox and Steam accounts, see link in my sig.

Your DLC problem is nothing to do with activation but is a game bug. Go to:
/home/user/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings II/
Rename the DLC folder to anything else, then to dlc - that is change it from upper to lower case via some third string.

This sounds promising, it just a little matter of "finding a file in linux and rename it"

using the terminal and commands to find the path was the easy part it was:
./.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Crusader Kings II/DLC

using
find -name DLC

Now, depite the path it seems a bit hidden to say the least, but it is a linux problem and I will take it those forums.


Update: Ctrl+H in file manager to show all files, changing DLC to dlc did the trick.
