hehe, i must say, this is too easy... i just made an avatar for myself, and it took me only 2 minutes... entirely different thing than when i started blubbering around in 3dsmax for some hours, without accomplishing anything... Now only 2200 more posts and i can upload it! considering my posting speed i will have my own avatar begin 2004
I usually resize the original image before pasting it in with <Image Menu>Image/Scale Image, but you can also use the Transform tool (shift-T by default) to resize it in-place.
I don't have Adobe Photoshop, so, as I have Corel Photo-Paint instead, I've tried the templates with this software (version 8.0) and it works nicely for the shields (not for the flags).
I've made my shield template available for download here.
It is a slight, incremental improvement of Mad King James' template. The shading has been smoothed to remove distortions resulting from their piecemeal creation from the original Paradox shields, and the slight pastel coloring from their 8-bit origin has been greyed. The images below, adjusted to increase contrast, illustrate this.
Additionally, the shape of the small shields has been made more symmetrical, and a long-standing annoyance with the leftmost silver shield - that the colors of the shield bleed down into the silver border - has been fixed.
I've added a forum-sized avatar template to my version of the shield template. As an example of its output, here's a version of the ever-popular Mystery Helmet on Blue:
This template programme... can it be used by itself, or does it need Photoshop or something. If so, will Microsoft Photo Editor or Paint work?? *fingers crossed*
Originally posted by mfigueras It is designed for Photoshop, but it also works with Corel PhotoPaint. It doesn't work with Paint or Microsoft Photo Editor.
