How to make allied nations more "dependant"?

The always send me there troops as expeditionary forces. When I do not accept them and give them all back, they sit around and do nothing, sometimes not even defending their own country (retaking national provinces)! How do I make them more "dependant"?

thanks, but I am trying to get the computer to think for itself and properly defend and attack a country, instead of me having to do it for them...

I think you'll be disappointed, the AI doesn't (and can't) anticipate everything that could happen in every game.
To address any oddities that can occur from this, taking military control is one tool available to the player to keep the game enjoyable.

Ive always found this annoying and from the start of an Alliance I was refuse to let them offer me troops from the very start. It might not fix it completely but it makes it better.
