I'm trying to find the file that sets when the game starts and ends in an effort to find a way to mod together a more complete history of the classical period from 753 BC all the way to the beginnings of the Dark Ages. Trouble is, I can't find the flag/trigger/file to override the game's demand that things start and end during the time period covered in the vanilla game.

I'd like to be able to create mods that allow for Alexander, or Romulus, or the Gallic invasion of Italy in 390 BC...but the game just doesn't seem to want to let me dig that deeply into it.

Any help would be appreciated...it's probably something simple that I'm missing, but it might also be hardcoded (which would be a shame.)

It doesn't surprise me that they'd put it in the .exe, since from what I've seen of the files it would create all sorts of problems if the players were allowed to go outside of the limits the way the setup screen's designed (and probably create a huge pile of CTD's in the process).

I guess I'll have to wait for someone who knows scripting to write a limit remover, then go in and mod all the files in the hope of preventing undesirable behavior from the game.
