so I'm playing Denmark going to form Scandinavia and have no idea what I'm doing. while waiting I wanna boost my economy so I copy what all the cool empires are doing and invade china for Formosa. I am surprised by their navies size but manage to land and siege the island down but it's not enough to peace out so I pull my navy up to move my armies to the mainland and I can't load them on... Formosa doesn't have a naval base... help

a port, not naval base is enough to get ship in. If for some reason you cannot then park the ship on the sea and move the troops to the ship. Make sure there is no fleet without transport on the same sea zone. They can prevent troop moving to ship transport.
Armies can just straight-up walk onto ships, no docking (let alone port, which is only needed to build & repair ships) required.
