In the first CK i could edit savegames simply with notepad, but now i cant seem to open the save game files, what do you use to open them now?

I've been using notepad++. I'm unsure of any reason why regular notepad wouldn't work.

Regular notepad is a terrible word processor that has extreme problems with huge filesizes. CK2 savegames are more than 20MB big, which is way more than notepad can handle.
The savegames are still plaintext, though, so any decent word processor will work.
