Given the recent posts, I thought it would be time for a little piece of info.

Anyone who edits the savegame of a game can cheat with it. To prevent this you can do the following:

  • Ask that the edited save is posted in the game thread some time before the game starts. If you have the edited save, you will only download the save from the host if new edits are made and thus you will immediately know if something is fishy.
  • After a session has finished, ask the host to immediately rehost for the last save. Make also a save yourself.
  • Use the saves you obtained this way to compare with the edited save that is posted in the thread before the session starts. There are tools for this, like beyond compare. Such tools allow you to see which changes are made by the editor and in this way you can check if all is right.

Perhaps some kind of list of cheaters could be posted? I admit this is a serious kind of branding, but cheating and eu2 doesn't fit. At all.

im not sure its a good idea to post such things true or not.

Basically edit the save file. While Ryo gave to his country a lot of small boosts, Pibe gave him more than 10,000 D AFAIK.

ye small gifts his aod gave ottos a mighty fort at start

There was one guy a year ago or so who edited in an insane tax value of some steppes province (Chagatai area I think it was). Something like 100d. Well, that was easily spotted by someone who happened to glance at the support limit (I think it was). I do not remember his name.

this is must be the only MP game i have seen around that allows people to edit in save game. why do that anyway. how would u prevent hacking and temptation when allowing such things

EU2 is one of the most moddable games I know. And as such there is naturally a drive to compensate for "bad" historical events that create an unfair disadvantage - for example, Poland's tech group switch is something the Poland player has no control over but will have to deal with anyway.

I dont know really. If it scares potential cheaters into not cheating, i am all for such blacklisting.
Then again, if its not true, it could mean that a player couldnt continue playing eu2 anymore.
Anyway, there are already inofficial black lists of people that arent welcome to certain games.

OE starts with mighty fort in the default AoD scenario.

ye and gues what ryo planned to play first game with that aod scenario ?

That's what he said. Ryo made AOD, he gave the OE a mighty fort.

Indeed. While he was creating AoD, he was preparing with me and K'shar, EGA5 (he was CO-GM). As he knew he would be OE he probably gave some boosts to it too. However, this isnt cheat since we knew the scen before we play.

The cheat was the small boots he gave himself DURING the campaign.
