What the factors for the AI when deciding tributary wars? I'm playing a vassal in scotland and my liege was declared war on by a king of England, and when I seized the the throne the old scottish king who was now my vassal was still processed as being a tribute of england, so I revoked all of his titles and not too long after the very same English king that had attacked before now attacked me for a tributary status, and since England is pretty OP in 1066 I had to surrender. Are certain characters more likely to declare tributary wars than others? How can I prevent tributary wars against me? Note: This king of england had about a 48 opinion of me and that usually would keep me safe for a while but not with him for some reason.

Provided you're not using any mods, non-nomads should only use the tributary CB if a few conditions are met: either they are an emperor (and their target is of king tier or lower) or
  • they are Greedy, Ambitious, or have Martial 15+
  • they are neither Charitable, Content, or have Martial 8-
  • their realm size is 100+ and their target has a realm size of 50-
All of the above must be true. The priority on the CB is still pretty low even so, but my experience is that if the AI has no other CB's available for it to use it will still invoke this one pretty often. The "ai_will_do" factor on the CB is more a weight against other CB's, not a weight on their tendency to go to war.
