First thing - turn on "-debug" function so you can see what the game flags as errors in your mod.

Second - get some tools like "notepad++" for editing/searching files and "winMerge" to compare files and folders.
Both are freeware, safe to use, and super helpful for modding.

Third - Read the Wiki if you have not, especially the sections on mods and modding.

Fourth - Good Luck, you will need it.

yes, i have all of this, maybe you know what changed from 1.14 to 1.16? developer of DOTM said there were some problems with the buildings so he couldnt update the mod properly
 
I'm sorry, but in two major releases just about everything changed somehow, I couldn't begin to give you a list.
Most important, both 1.15 and 1.16 made map changes, new States, provinces, new buildings, landmarks.
Start with the map, you can't even start a game until the map is fixed.

DOTM is a full override mod, basically everything is different except buildings ( i think ) and i dont know how to update the nuclear bombs properly, maybe you can find me an article that can help?
