I still can't forgive Creative Assembly to how they dealt with Empire: Total War. I also dislike the franchise name order change.

Yeah, the name order change really is bad.
But what made me most annoyed was the state of RIITW at release. Me and my buddy wanted to have a 24h-LAN-Party and play a cooperative campaign, but we mostly searched for fixes for the crashes for the first 6 hours. After it, the turns took so long that we took some short naps during every turn, around midnight.

Frankly it's quite the opposite for me, Civ 5 and TW Rome 2 were horrible at launch but have been vastly improved and polished. I wish I could say the same thing about CK2 and EU 4.

CK2 is a completly different game then it was on release. And, IMO it really got better. Not sure about EU4. I´ll check it again after AoW.

I wonder if people at CA think Johan is an expletive because of his hilarious remarks, the best thing CA could and should have done is just to take some playful jabs back at Paradox.

And since Johan said these remarks while HOI 3 was being developed, I am sure they laughed their asses off when it was released.

I consider laughing at someone with your back turned far more scummy than openly making fun of them

We do not mention of that place. Though once upon a time, Creative Assembly used to be a vassal of them too until they switched to Activision.

One does not simply walk into EA and demand good game and player support.

So true, though I would say there are (were?) exceptions. The original Crysis being one of them.

An exception that drives the point home... hard.

EA is just a name for the way to peacefully make a developer company ruin itself and have their games commit suicide.

CA did create a great AI with the first two games and to a large extent Shogun II. I don't know what their reaction would've been when they actually saw the HoI3 AI. Maybe they laughed off hard, considering after that they went on to release two successful games with a good AI.

I think Rome 2 was horrible at launch. Simply horrible. That said, it is now quite better, to the point that I have no complaints. EUIV got better as well, but back in 2013, when both were released together, it was certainly superior. Now, I'd give the edge to Rome.

With the exception of Shogun 2 and Fots CA\s post Medieval 1 AI has been quite awful (particularly in Medieval II, Napoleon and Rome 2). PDS Ai is also bad but at least it's fun to plauy against. Particularly when you see stuff like England conquering Finland, savoy relocating to Karelia and Karem Bonnu besieging Novgorod. Firaxis had a good AI in civ 4 but that's pretty much it.

They were an independent studio back then, free to choose which publisher to work with.

Then, in around 2006, CA was bought by Sega. Since then they are a subsidiary of Sega and people who blame Sega for problems but not CA are missing the point, they are now part of the same.

I think there is a trend of TW games getting worse since 2006 (since M2TW). I don't think it's a coincidence.

Like others have said, the strategy games part of the world is quite small, I don't see the point of arguing with each other. Besides, the others make some really good games too.
Beyond Earth will release tonight in Sweden, and I've pre-loaded it and am ready to dig in!

It's bigger than simulators though, isn't it?

Beyond Earth does look interesting, though I have no interest in getting it at the moment.

Not in Germany for sure...
I still shudder everytime i see something like a postman simulator or a hospital simulator.

I remember back in the day where simulators (mostly combat flight ones) were quite common. I recently started to get back in, though I don't have a good enough computer to run them. I do have a joystick though, and once I get a rig, I'll be playing Digital Combat Simulator amongst others quite a bit.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Not after... Goat Simulator. They final made a George Clooney movie into a video game...

Ah these three are my favorite game studios CA, PDS and Firaxis which create historical game genre.

Beyond Earth will be very excited for me since this is the game for who loves space expiration.

Total War Atilla, only I like is Eastern Roman Empire but era of the game which I'm not interested much hope next TW game will be Victoria: Total War.

HOI IV will released next year for who love World War II and hope Victoria 3 is better than Victoria 2 and hope there will be Warring States(Chinese one) and Sengoku 2 since disappointment of Sengoku 1.
