So ive started playing Arsenal of democracy again with iron cross, and updated with latest patch. And suddenly i encounter something ive never seen before, and wondering if its a bug / intended?

If i place a engineer brigade on my HQ which i usually do, the speed drops to 1km/h so the entire battlegroup loses its speed. but when im producing hqs and placing engineers on there it says the speed actually goes up. anyone know something about this?
 
I agree with conanteacher also terrain plays a part in it & if you just took over the province remember that the infrastructure might be damaged from bombings ect. this will slow down supplies & replacements I use HQ's with AA , inf to support def. & most importantly logistics which I place behind the attacking or defending province so a steady stream of supplies make it to the front lines.

The wise general plans ahead...
 
Although i really appreciate replies, please bear in mind i have played the game since first hearts of iron, and its none of the causes above. Its a clear bug from what i have seen and never encountered this before. Probably wise to mention my current build is aod 107 and ic 102. Never caused this before.

As for putting AA on hqs, dont agree at all. find AAs dont do much good, but get a minus 1 on speed. My setup is usually 12 units in one battlegroup with 1 HQ, 3 armor and rest mechanized. If you look at speed stats on all of those units, the HQ is base 7 if im not mistaken, and armor and mech usually around 12-14. And from before if i put engineer on HQ the speed rises to 9 or 10. I usually play as germany, and speed is the key factor on my battlegroups for the pincer movements and what not.

Anyway, the bug as i mentioned. I put a HQ with engi on production line, and it gets the speed bonus as usual. As soon as i deploy it with engi, it drops to 1. Take it off and im back to 7 base as it should be.
 
Kenti, I get the same results you do so I figure it is a bug as well. I am using the same versions of the games and have since detached my HQ unit from my main forces. They tend to lag way behind, but I often feel the speed of the assault is more important than the benefit of the HQ's presence.

Granted, the HQ's bonus is huge, but at 1kph, I HAVE to leave it behind in order to get the pincer attacks that are necessary to crush the Soviet Union.
 
True, it might be a bug but I never attach a HQ unit to anything they move independent from all units least that works for me & I never have them on the front line...this way it gives units a supply bonus which is what really matters to me while on the offensive.
