Huge complete DH compatible Sprites pack First Release

hello,
I did a really huge work these weeks.

I did this big pack of sprites for any units in the game using pumas sprites and several personal sprites that i did to complete it.
Unlikely the puma's sprites are totally not centred when loaded in DH, so i centred all the sprites one by one...

I centred any units and I checked any Walk, Fire and Stand directions.
I resized several sprites because some puma's sprite is too little or too big

I will be pleased to have bug feedback to improve this sprite pack

This pack contain singles differents sprites for ENG-FRA-GER-ITA-JAP-SOV-SPA-USA-MIN (+ others minors nations still to be centered ARG-CHI-ROM...)

I don't know if this is of much help, but during the first launch of your test pack i noticed that the infantry sprite for Germany is the same both in 1936 and 1944 (it's a figure of WW1 soldier). Maybe the level of a german infantry sprite is too high (L8 or something).

Good luck with your huge work. I hope you will succeed in finishing it, and we all will have a chance to enjoy Puma's Sprite Pack, fully compatible with DH. I'm looking forward to playing with it.

about infantry models there is 1 specific model each country and it dont change while the game as air models.
instead the interceptor change 2 times while the game (as u can read in the list above there is early model, advanced model and turbojet model)

About land and ship pumas sprites there are not differences concerning the historical year but the puma's pack (where I got a lot of sprites) is only a collection, so basically the infantry lvl 6 is not more advanced than lvl 1 but it is only an other model to chose. Often the images dimensions of differents lvls in pumas collections are bigger or smaller, this means that several sprites come from different "images" category and it is not recommended to use together (note if u change an image dimension you will lost a lot of quality so it is better to try to maintain the original size of sprite as possible)

about the level of german infantry that u see in my pack u can see L-5 in the bmp file name (this means it is the infantry called "L-5" in the puma's pack) but in the linked .spr file u can read correctly it is leveled as L-1 (so this sprite will be available from the start of the game up to the end)

concerning the type of sprite of germany infantry u right (it is a model too aincent for 1936 scenario) it should be changed with an other model more advanced. I will do it soon
as i said above this is a dimostration than the pumas pack have to be considered as a collection and the levels in this collections are only different names and they are not linked with the history (L-5 of germany infantry is a model of WW1 as u said!)

Ty, i already fixed german infantry, but you have to consider this version of pack as a beta, i still have to fix several positions of sprites while they firing, and i have to center several turbojet models and the small countries too

hi, I finished the first complete release of this pack just today,
atm there are all sprites of majors nations (ENG-FRA-GER-ITA-JAP-SOV-USA-MIN-SPA)
i am looking for a website to upload this pack (more than 200mb)

I need absolutely that many people start to play DH with this pack to find and fix any bug

I will add later a temporary link where you guys can download it.
I should to open a new Thread with some screenshoot too but I dont have time to do it

The sprite of a motorcycle is more relevant for a German medium cavalry unit as a motorcyclist is shown even in its in-game icon.

basicaly it should be done for any nation, but not all of them have a motocycle sprite so to be coherent for the moment I used the most advanced sprite that sound like a mechanized cavalry sprite for the last 3 cavalry levels

The cavalry work as follow:
L-1 up to L-11 it is the standard cavalry (an horse)
L-12 it is semi-motorized cavalry (maybe the motocycle)
L-13 it is motorized cavalry
L-14 it is mechanized

so if u want to use the motocycle as cavalry u should do it only for the level L-12

sure, I will do it for the nations with a motocycle sprite available in the next sprite pack version.

This mod is wonderful as I always want to merge Puma's works into Darkest Hours, I really appreciate your work.
However, when I try to put the mods into my own modified version of DH, I can't even enter the game:confused:
When I choose to transfer the sprites by countries, I found that I can enter the game with USA SOV JAP GER sprites, but the sprites of USA BB has some problem in which the image is blurred.(perhaps a bug not yet discovered)
The work of you is brilliant but can you help me with this? Many Thanks.

When u load the game with all countries installed you have to wait a bit that the game load all the sprites files (it can take several minutes if your computer is slow)
Concerning USA Battleship I didnt find any problem, can u post a screenshoot?

Try to check if u have installed correctly all palettes in ur mod directory, and if u have the last version of the mod (V1.1)


I really appreciate any bug report, it can help to improving this mod up to a final version

I know that it takes time for the sprites to load into the game but in the situation, when i introduce some of the sprites, CHI for example, during the usual loading process, the game just stop running and jump back to the windows instantaneously. Maybe it is something to do with the new unit system in 1.03 version?
Here are some pictures about the USA BB and also the MIN BB, maybe it is something to do with the palette (usually this pattern is palatte error?)

As u can see here I dont have problems with USA Battleship sprites, so I think u got this error when u tried to mix more packs togheter. To be sure anything work well i suggest u to cancel your units directory and ur palette directory and replace them with the mod ones (u can create an other Darkest Hour full mod directory)

Hello, Sobrano. Could you please upload a motorcycle sprite to this thread? The armored carrier (T-CAVALRY A-STAND C-GER L-5) with a camouflage looks crappy, if it was replaced with a motorcycle, it would be epic.

I tried to replace it by myself, but i failed. I only replaced bmp files and changed the level of a motorcycle sprite from L4 to L5, but in the game the sprite was displayed by a blank texture. The cavalry sprites for other countries are just fine, but this camouflaged German armored carrier spoils everything...

P.S. I found a bug with a Japanese infantry sprite:

Oh, I will update the sprite pack with german cavalry for you and i will look this japanese infantry bug.


This bug occour exactly when?
1) when japanese infantry defend or attack from which direction (NE-E-SE-...)?
2) when japanese infantry is under attack from the sky?
