the battles during the great war wasn't a battle abut citys ore provinse, it was about meter.
is't this a problem? i mean HoI is bult up whit provinse.
It was a thot.

It shan't be a problem, insofar as the territorial aspect of the game is pretty much set in stone, so any representation of the Great War would have to work round that. I ought to think that the game shall concentrate the players' efforts on wasting enemy life as well as achieving something of a breakthrough to gain territorial advantage.

And although you say the war wasn't about cities or provinces, the defeated countries did generally find themselves having to get rid of those very things, which goes to show that even after a such an epic war, nations still thought in terms of territorial aggrandisement.

Not entirely, the war in the Middle East was very much a war of greater movement, with greater considerations for space, possibilities of outflanking movements and use of cavalry. Much the same can be said about the Eastern Front - plenty of thought for using distance and space to your advtange. In the end, the aims of these campaigns had been essentially territorial: on one hand, the Germans looked to gain access to Russia's economic potential, and in the Middle East, the British and French looked to expand their imperial interests.

This doesn't detract from the fact that the main theatre of operations during the war was still the western front, and ultimately, it was on this front where the war was decided: It is important that the kind of stalemate that ensued on the Western front, Isonzo River, Salonika front, Gallipoli peninsula etc is properly represented, so that emphasis is put on attrition rather than massive territorial gains. In so far as I've also paid attention occasions where trench systems didn't manifest themselves, my perspective isn't entirely 'westernfrontocentric'

I believe he was referring to the origonal poster? Also i believe the very game mechanics of HoI may stiffle some historical operations. I.E. the entire Salonika Front holding oh so little of Serbia , or the Ypres Salient, or even the entire Galliopoli Campaign which would most probably be represented in HoI as a massive landing in the provence of istanbul.
