Did you get the game to work? Unfortunately your posts are not really clear on that.

You can also try verifying the integrity of the game cache, and if that does not help a clean install.

* Go to your Steam games library
* Right click on "Crusader Kings II" and select "properties"
* Click on the tab "Local Files"
* Now click on "Verify integrity of game cache"
* Wait until this process is finished, if any files are missing/corrupted it will notify you at the end of the process and automatically start with re-downloading these files

Clean install:

Important: Go to '..\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\save games\' and copy all the save games you want to keep outside the folder
* Uninstall Crusader Kings II
Steam users:[/B] uninstall the game from within steam by right clicking on the game and select "Delete content"
* Go to the folder where you installed Crusader Kings II in, and check if the Crusader Kings II folder is removed. If not, delete the entire folder
Steam users:[/B] Installation folder can be found at: '..\Steam\SteamApps\common\'
* Go to '..\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\' and remove the entire Crusader Kings II folder
* Install the game, make sure you install the game outside the 'C:\Program Files\' or 'C:\Program Files (x86)\' folders, as it can cause issues with permissions

Sadly that's as far as Paradox's technical expertise extends it seems.

While I'm not certain why you're preaching this over the technical boards now, I'd like to ask you to not post in threads in the technical support forum if you've got nothing to add please. The reason we often start with a clean install or a verification of the gamecache is to rule out any corruption issues. If the game does not crash anymore after a clean install, it looks like some of the files were/are messed up after the update which always can happen. If it still crashes, it means further troubleshooting is required and we've to look further to troubleshoot what the issue is. In the case of this topic, it even only needed a restart of Steam.

We're doing our best to help everyone here to have an enjoyable gaming experience without any issues, and we do that with our best intentions.

The issue in this thread was solved, so I'm locking the thread for that reason.
