I've tried the solutions posted by the moderator several times and while I can now sometimes load the game after repeatedly deleting the sqllite file, it crashes soon after

I have tried:
- Deleting the sqllite file, which sometimes results in {databasePath} rather than the file path but still means that doing that doesn't work
- Added the Paradox Launcher.exe to AVGs exceptions and any other .exe file I could find
- Opted into the beta multiple times and deleted the sqllite file right after opting in and before relaunching the launcher

The furthest I've managed to get is empire creation screen, but even then it crashed while I was trying to make an empire
Its totally unmodded too when it crashed last time

I have no idea what to do anymore, and it ran a modded game just fine 2 days ago, so I have no idea what is going on anymore

These all read like antivirus app issues, and AVG is known to have a problem with the current launcher version 2021.10.1 . What if you opt into the beta of the next launcher version 2022.1 ? That's done in Launcher Settings.

That aside there must be more you need to do in AVG to allow the launcher and game to read and write where they like. You may need help from their support for that.

I assume running stellaris.exe directly at least allows you into the game?

I'm using AVG and it is 100% an issue with the antivirus, when I disabled the Ransomware Protection feature it started working just fine without that database error occurring. Modded games also work, I added stellaris.exe as an exception but same results when the Ransomware protection is on

I can't exclude the Paradox folder under documents because AVG automatically protects all files in the documents folder

Is it possible to move the Paradox Interactive folder elsewhere or would it mess up the launcher?

It is possible to tell the game and launcher to store saves and log files and settings elsewhere, but it is fiddly, and might need to be redone nay time there was a game update. A better approach is to fix the root cause of the problem IMO.

Did you try the launcher beta, as I suggested?

Failing that you may need to get AVG's help in setting this up to work properly - I know it is possible because other AVG users have done it.
