I can't even install the game

I recently bought HOI2 and tried installing it on my computer, at first it started installing, but it didnt seem right and then it said something about how the device wasn't ready. So, i tried again, clicked INSTALL, it went to installsheild, but then came up with a similar message about the device not being ready.

Now it won't even get past the installation screen, i click INSTALL, and the computer just whirrs a bit but doesn't actually do anything. It is really, really frustrating.

I think i have the the correct system requirements, but i'm not sure, the original HOI works on my computer fine, i think maybe the CD might be damaged, but i'll just have to see

Here's some info about my computer:
Compaq Presario 061
Intel Celeron CPU 2.8GHz
512MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X
Realtek AC97 Audio
available vitual memory: 1.21GB
available physical Memory: 282.47MB

I need that error message, if you can write it down next time it happens.

Try copying the entire CD to the HD and install from there.
