I just recently started playing CK2 (no mods or DLC, just the core game) and I realized, that if I don't autosave to the cloud, then I will only have one single autosave. I tried different settings and even changed the number of the "autosaves_to_keep" in the 'settings.txt' manually to a higher number (tried 3, 5 and 10), but it still only creates 1 local autosave and overwrites it every time it autosaves again.

Is the option for multiple autosaves only available for saving to the cloud? I'd prefer my save files to be stored locally.
Couldn't find anything regarding my issue via google or on the 'Known Issues'-thread.

Thanks for any help in advance!

In case anybody has the same issue and stumbles upon my thread:

I have solved my issue. As my username on Windows included a letter with an accent on it, the game couldn't properly process the file path I guess, which resulted in only overwriting the previous autosave, instead of creating i.e. 5 as I set it in the settings.txt.

So what you would wanna do, if you have any special characters in your Windows-username or filepath, is changing your name/filepath, so it only contains regular characters. (In my case I had to change a character in my username from 'é' to a simple 'e'.

To change it properly, with all the rights, you can simply use google to find a tutorial on renaming your user PROPERLY. Simply renaming it via Windows Control Panel will most likely not work properly, so look for a decent tutorial (includes changes to Registry and use of CMD) and follow it precisely.

Or you create a new User in Windows and install and play CK2 on that User account.

Additionatly you could try Mivos tutorial on changing the save folder, but I did not try if that works, as I just renamed my User.

Mivo said:
Go to the location of the actual game files (where the executable is). A common location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii. Here, manually create a plain text file named userdir.txt. In this text file, put the path of where you would like the game to put save files and screenshots, e.g. D:\Miscellaneous\CK2stuff\. (You can delete the folder in My Documents and restart the game, it will create its files in the new location.)

For Mivos above tutorial, you would also need to use a filepath that doesn't include special characters.
