Hi all,
I have been playing vanilla HoI2 w/ patch 1.3a. I have also been editing some of the core provinces/techs of some nations in the '36 scenario. I didn't have any problems until recently, when I got the following three:
1. I can't uninstall or repair my game. Whenever I try I get a message saying that there was a "component transfer error." The component is listed as "core files," the error is "catastrophic failure," while the file/file group are blank.
2. I can no longer edit files. For example, if i change something in the Hungary file in the '36 scenario folder and try to save it, I get a message saying that my access to that file is denied.
3. When I load up the game I get a message saying that Bink (the movie player?) encountered a problem and can't run the opening movie. When I click OK the game continues loading and I can play it. This seems weird because I never messed with any of the graphics, sounds, etc. (that I know of
).
I have no modding experience and very, very little knowledge of modding. I now realize that I was playing with fire and I got burned :rofl:. Ideally I want to be able to uninstall the game cleanly and completely, reinstall tha game to 100% working condition, and buy DD. Can anybody please help me with this?
Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm on Vista.
