One thing I'm wondering is, if there are more recent mods that still work. The game functions as it should with mods disabled.
I can load the game, but (in my case) when I try to play skirmish games, it doesn't do anything except black screen with the spinning wheel and the brief tips showing.
For me, the only reason I'm after mods is to get more 'mechs than the vanilla game.
Help would be appreciated.

I'm running ModTek 0.8.0, but I must've missed several version jumps. Looking at the ModTek GitHub page, version 4.0.0 is the latest stable release that is listed. If you're running 4.4, then that's not a stable version.

As for mods that add mechs, I know that Hyades Rim, BEX, BTA, and RogueTech all add several mechs, in addition to other things. There are several mods that are still actively supported. My suggestion would be to look at one of those mods first, figure out which one is appealing, and then determine what version of ModTek that mod needs.

Thanks for the info. I'll definately look into it. Since I predominately only do skirmishes, being able to try different 'mechs and configs is what appeals to me. :)

Try BTA 3062 you have multiple starting areas with different mechs. One staring area is Quads 2 Scorpions & 2 Tarantulas, there is a Clan starting area, in Kurita you can fight Nova Cat. In Tauran space there is an invasion, the enemy is using remote control Robotech units. You also start with 4 mechs, 1-2 vehicles, 1-2 Battle Armor units. The original game is listed as Flash Point missions, you don't have to take them if you don't want too. If you do instead of a Blackjack, you are using an Osprey for the first mission.

In Hyades Rim, you are running missions mainly in the Expanded Rim section Kameia becomes a part of your crew as a tech. Lots to explore!

I am using Modtek 08.0 or 2.0.7 both are very stable. I was unaware of any new modtek versions.

Thanks for your info, I'll look further. I'm not playing it for the storyline stuff, I just do skirmishes. Very similar to when I play tabletop, just a bunch of mechs and try different things. The help so far have been great. Much appreciated. :)

I appreciate the information you have given. The ModTek version I currently have says it's 4.0.0 noy 4.4 like I said before. I'm in the process of trying to sort out the suggestions. :) While the game if getting "fixed". It's installed from Steam, so it's currently checking validity of local files. I finally took a screenshot of the black screen I get.
That stuff does keep changing as the wheel spins, but nothing further happens, even after several minutes. Without mods everything works fine.

Just installed ModTek 2.0.7 and it appears stable. :) Now to add some actual mods. :)
Again, thanks for the help.
