Hello all. I have owned Sengoku since release, but just started playing it, and have come across an aggravating event. Every time I'm at war, ALL of my vassals ask for the next kori that I conquer. And I'm fine with this for the most part. I enjoy giving away the kori I take, that I don't want, as it gives free relations. But when I have 10 vassals, and every single one asks me for a kori multiple times in 1 year, I'm just loosing relations with them because I have to decline and say no. From what I understand, if I say yes, and then give them a Kori after I give someone else a kori/daimyo title, they become even more pissed with me. Sometimes one vassal will ask repeatedly in 1 month.

What can I do to prevent the massive relations decrease EVERY time I'm at war?

Reduce your direct vassals with f.e. giving daimyo titles.

The events exist in the vassal event file.

Thank you. Now, uhh... how do I reduce my direct vassals? Is it under transfer vassalage?

Yeah you can transfer any of your kokujin vassals to any of your daimyos for a nominal honor cost. But you can't transfer a daimyo to another daimyo of course. Your remaining vassals will still ask for land, but fewer vassals means fewer people to keep happy anyway. The problem I've found is that you probably still want a few kokujin vassals if you intend to make any new daimyos, since giving multiple daimyo titles to your vassals seems pretty pointless other than to make them a bit happier.

that, and you need to balance out your vassals armies percentage. for example, in my latest Ouchi game, I have made several daimyos out of my vassals since i had plenty to distribute, but thing is, i kept monopolizing the kokujin titles to balance their powers so no one of them have more power than the rest. this means i keep them all at around 10-15% of the total clan army. so if someone rebelled, he only has 15% of our ENTIRE clan's army, while I HAVE the rest of the 85% of it so i can squash him easily.

and guess who rebelled anyways? Sue -.- that son of a gun needs to be put in his place even in games -keeps on grumbling-

Also the event ignores what has happend in the past.
I just gave some guy of my dinasty 5 provinces and 1 Dymo-title and whup,
he demanded that I give him even more ^.^
This character definately deserves the "greedy"-trait ...

I propose to add more MTTH in a patch and make some traits
have an effect of how likely this events will happen. At the
moment it's happening way to often.

Yeah, I tend to distribute the kokujin titles so that no one of my vassals gets too much over the 10% strenght ratio. Then it doesn't matter what they think of you since they're all too weak to rebel anyway. And if someone happens to be more powerful than the rest then I focus on improving ties with him by marriage and granting daimyo titles.

But that -10 relations isn't really that big of an issue. I turn down all the reguests if I haven't already decided to give the one who's asking the next kokujin title anyway, and I haven't really experienced any difficulties in keeping my clan together in any of the games I've played.

As long as they are at least 45+ I automatically decline. You can decline multiple times and you won't continue to receive a -15 hit each time, only once. So once I've told someone no the damage is done and you can continue focusing on boosters, assigning titles and land as you see fit. Have a lot of children so you can bank on same dynasty bonus and control as much land with direct descendants unless you absolutely need to promote a courtier.

The event exists to make it harder for you to have too many direct vassal (ie more than 4-5 and you'll probably get some problems).

Thanks, Birken. Good to know.

I had intuited this; I usually just deal with 3 or 4 vassals directly, giving them all the kuni I conquer after I'm up to 5 myself. I figure they're paid pretty well for a reason - let them run their side of things. Works out alright for the most part.

I managed this fine with 16 Vassals. Consider the one time cost of 20g to offset declining per each vassal means you can keep the best kori for your demesne. Honor the request for existing land holders only, then decline and gift to offset and keep declining.

Alternatively, always have Shinto as your religion. With Shinto, your honour will rarely go below 75 for long, and hence you get a +25 relation pretty much all the time. And plus, if you keep only members of your dynasty as your direct vassals, you will always have +35 relation with everyone pretty much all the time too. Which translates to you can always refuse to promise them anything :).

Keeping only members of your dynasty as your direct vassals is somewhat difficult however. If you ever force another clan into submission, their now former leader can only be your direct vassal. Those leaders are useful, since they can have daimyo as their own vassals (as opposed to regular daimyo vassals, which can only have kokujin as their own vassals), allowing you to reduce the number of direct vassals you have significantly.

Not to mention that several clans start with daimyo not of the main dynasty as vassals, and it's generally a bit hard to remove those from power without them getting angry at you. ;)

On the other side of the coin though....CPU sides which manage to do this (generally the Yamana seem to be good at it) seem impossible to break by plots. While they might break up into civil war on their own (the Ouchi and Takeda seem to be particularly good at doing that, in the games I've played), none of the dynasty vassals will ever seem to join an outsider's plot, which generally reduces your options there.
