since you are talking about cows...

Since the conversation has turned concerning cows, have a look at this:

jejejejeje! cows are a lot of fun... ;)

i never got to milk one though...

On topic:

So I can say...launch my armies to invade sack and teach my neighbors a lesson but i wont be doing a lot of annexing along the lines of EU where I would invade Lithuania and demand the border provinces...rather, I will just be teaching others to fear me and my family...kinda like the mafia with a little more medieval and a little less romance i guess..

That, plus to kill those heathens and spread the word of God (plus maybe takesome territory)! It is Crusader Kings after all.

take some territory? But not on the scale of EU2 I assume...I mean from what I've read we deal with much smaller areas..like I wouldnt annex say... 'champagne' as much as a county or city within..right?

boy am I lost!

When I read about this game I was very excited for it..I still am. But in these forums I feel lost because the threads are sometimes difficult to navigate through and I dont understand what has been discussed or not but everyone here has been very helpful.. :)

Does anyone know how much control someone has over their family? can you marry off cousins and such, or are these outer members of the family..nephews, cousins, etc possible enemies and outside the players control?

One of the problems with almost all of the posts on this forum is that they are speculation and wild guesses with a lot of "I would like to see" thrown in. We have only the preview/interview material plus a few tidbits of info from Greven and Sergei as to what the game is really going to be.

So don't worry about being confused - most of us are confused also. We just hide it behind our statements about how we think things are going to work.:)

I do not understand this game.

I have read the stickied threads and such.

Warfare is included but a minimal part of the game.

diplomacy, marriage and building a strong dynasty are important.

but - what are you doing meanwhile? In EU2 you had provinces to manage, colonies to build, treaties to sign, vassals to annex, armies to raise, navies to maintain, technologies to invest in, religions and cultures to study.. 'core' territories to conquer.

in between what kinds of things do you do? i assume you dont just sit there and listen to the music ;)

has it been discussed on how players pass time?

But Jaron all those things you name as things yu did in EU2 between wars you also do in Crusader Kings and Warfare is no minimal part of the game. It is as important as in EU2. The main difference is the goals of your wars. For example in CK your troops are limited but raised for free. Your provinces doesn't give you much money but plundering the enemies land will make you rich. Rarely you conquer lands to make them part of your Royal Demesne but often very often you conquer land to create new vassals... These vassals are part of your realm my friend.

O.K. - a word from the master.

Thanks Greven. It is nice to hear from you again.

Your description sounds almost like you were describing the 100 Years War.:)

Well as the 100 years war was in the time period I suppose that follows. What I´d like to know is if you as HRE conquers new land. How will that be handled? The HRE doesn´t really follows the rules of how an ordinary kingdom is set up.

Naturally..;)..and then we start all over by saying things like...ehum, "I would like to see a CK2 with Vikings attacking Miklagaard"..:)

Well history dictates that nothing is ever new just the same mistakes repeated over and over again.:D

"Troops are limited but raised for free"...

Does that preclude mercenaries then?

Pretty sure that mercs gotta be paid. Whether you have to pay up front or as time goes on is not clear. Sometimes it was both ways but I wouild say that for game purposes it would be one way or the other.:)

When I used the word "preclude" I meant that "since troops are not paid does that mean that there will not be mercenaries in the game"?

I sure hope there are - they were a fairly significant part of warfare in that time period.
