I'm curious about others' opinions on this idea, so I've decided to place my thoughts at the mercy of the forum.
I'm a WW2 fanatic, and HOI 1 was the game that lured me to the Paradox title, and I've been an avid fan ever since. I own every game from the HOI, CK, and EU franchises (although I've been lazy on registration). However I've always had a reservation regarding the emphasis on unit combat in place in HOI that I feel largely ignores some major aspects of the WW2 timeframe.
The overview of my idea is essentially to move the true contest in the game from the numbers/type of units and IC to the production aspects of the period. I love the micromanagement aspects of the new brigade system, but I would rather spend my time micromanaging the production scene. Essentially I don't like the fact that as soon as I develop an advanced model for a unit I only have to invest a few IC/days and my 50 armored divisions are all equipped with Panther tanks. The struggle of the war was not the development of technology, but instead its implementation and production. I want to develop production lines, stockpiles, and a supply system that truly must be defended. It isn't realistic to be able to change the entire focus of the war machine in a few months. I understand that this is abstracted in the game, but I feel that it should be an emphasis.
I have many more particulars, but I would like input on the idea before I spend too much time elaborating.
